The final event of the season, the President’s Handicap, wrapped up over the weekend. The conditions were tough, but the bowls were terrific, and everyone who took to the green did themselves proud.

After the round robin games, Wendy Colcott claimed the Women’s title, with Chris Rigby finishing as runner up.

In the Men’s event, Stew Campbell and Brian Kavanagh topped their sections to meet in the final. In a terrific contest, Stew fought back from behind to edge out Brian 21–20.

Well done to all players for braving the weather and finishing the season with such quality bowls. A great way to close out the year.

Indoor Bowls

We send our very best wishes to our Grangeburn Gold and Blue teams as they begin their campaign in the Hamilton Indoor Bowls Association’s ten week Pennant season. The season kicks off on Thursday, following a great opening night hosted at Grangeburn last week.

The weather conditions were ideal over the weekend for our Mixed Pairs Championship. It was fantastic to see some of our newer bowlers competing in this event.

The first round, which began on Saturday afternoon, was played in brilliant sunshine, and the second round concluded under lights in mild conditions. Today, the favourable weather continued for the finals, and we were fortunate to complete the grand final just before the rain started.

The finals were all closely contested, with the winners being decided by no more than three shots. In the first semi-final, Wendy Colcott and Reece Harman defeated Chris and Dean Jenkins 19 to 18, and in the second semi-final, Nettie Ryan and Ruben Ross defeated Chris and Wayne Rigby 17 to 14.

The grand final between Wendy and Reece against Nettie and Ruben was another closely contested game, with Nettie and Ruben winning 14 to 12.

Congratulations to Nettie and Ruben on their third Mixed Pairs Championship title, and well done to Wendy and first-year player, Reece on an excellent campaign. 👏👏👏👏

Yesterday's inaugural Cross Town Classic had a wonderfully warm friendly feel as Grangeburn and Hamilton Bowls Clubs came together for a brand-new tradition. Four teams of four from both Clubs took to the greens, with each rink featuring men and women players from Divisions 1,2,3 & 4. After fifteen ends of cheerful competition, Grangeburn finished ahead with a final score of 72-43.

Everyone then headed into the warm clubhouse for a relaxed sausage sizzle, plenty of chatter, and a chance to unwind together. It was exactly the kind of day that reminds us why community bowls is so special - friendly rivalry, good company, and lots of smiles.

We look forward to playing this event again when Hamilton hosts it next year, keeping the friendly spirit - and the rivalry - going strong.

Yesterday, our KFC Fours Tournament experienced less-than-ideal weather, with rain at times, as unpredictable as a bowls game itself. We welcomed teams from Hamilton, Penshurst, Koroit, Heywood, Coleraine, Casterton and Grangeburn with a few teams made up of players from different clubs. Thank you to everyone for supporting our event.

The Stuart Reid team from Koroit delivered an impressive performance, achieving 3.5 wins and first place. The John Pye team from Portland/Memorial came in second, with 3 wins and 17 shots. The Heywood/Hamilton team just missed out on a higher placing, with 3 wins and 8 shots up.

Big thanks to our fantastic sponsor, KFC for sponsoring this event for many years.

Also thanks again to our club's amazing volunteers who made the whole day a huge success.
