On Sunday May 24th, Glenorie RSL Club had the privilege of celebrating a very special milestone with one of our own, Mr Andy Pellizzer, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by family, friends and fellow Directors.
The occasion also marked another significant milestone, with Andy’s impending retirement from the Board of Directors of Glenorie RSL Club after more than 30 years of dedicated service to the Club.
Andy's involvement with Glenorie RSL spans decades, having served on the Board during the days of the original Club on Old Northern Road and later returning to the Board at the location it is at now on Post Office Road. Over this time, he has played an important role in helping guide the Club through periods of growth and change, always bringing honesty, practicality, and a genuine commitment to the best interests of our members and community.
The role of a Club Director is often unseen by many members. Directors are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the Club, ensuring its long-term sustainability, compliance, financial oversight, and continued ability to serve members and the local community. It is a role that requires significant volunteer time, commitment, and responsibility, and Andy has given all of that generously for more than three decades.
Beyond his contribution to the Club, Andy has been a well-known and respected member of the Glenorie community throughout his life. A veteran, farmer, flower grower, family man, and proud local, Andy has made a lasting contribution to the district through his hard work, friendships, and community involvement over many years.
During the celebration, Glenorie RSL Club was proud to present Andy with a Trophy of Recognition, acknowledging his outstanding service and dedication to the Club and its members.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, Staff, and Members, we extend our sincere thanks to Andy for his many years of service, leadership, and friendship.
Congratulations on reaching 90 years young, Andy, and thank you for everything you have contributed to Glenorie RSL Club and the wider community.
Please join us in wishing Andy all the very best in his well-earned retirement from the Board.
