Caitlyn Hayes of Park Ridge is a dual trade-qualified Diesel Fitter and Automotive Electrician working as a Field Service Technician in the heavy mobile equipment sector on FIFO rosters to the Pilbara — making her one of a rare group of women with specialist qualifications across both mechanical and electrical systems for complex mining equipment. Named among the Top 100 Women in Construction and Trades in 2021 and recipient of the Empowered Women in Trades Tradie Trailblazer Award in 2025, she mentors apprentices through Manufacturing Skills Queensland and her own workplace, and is currently completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Her social media platform .n.sparks uses authentic digital storytelling to break down outdated perceptions of women in trades, inspire future apprentices, and create industry collaboration opportunities — building a visible pathway into the sector for young women who didn't know one existed.

Well… that escalated in the best possible way ❤️
To everyone who made it to this little pub at Orchid Beach for this fundraiser for Rally for a Cause - whether you’ve been here before or it was your first time…thank you from the bottom of my heart xx To get so much support from complete strangers, new faces, and familiar ones alike was something pretty special to be part of.

Hey guys 💛 $4.25 a litre….

I hear the comments about fuel, and I genuinely get it — no one likes high prices, including me.
But please remember, a small, independent servo in a remote location, running completely off-grid on generator power….who can’t even get confirmed delivery dates or pricing beforehand — that’s just the reality of getting fuel up here.
Up until now, I’ve done everything I can to keep my margin at a fair level, but we’re getting absolutely smashed by suppliers. Delivery for free that used to be included to my shed at Rainbow simply isn’t anymore — and those costs add up fast.
And just to clear a few things up… if anyone thinks we’re sitting on cheap fuel bought months ago — yeah, nah. We don’t have big storage tanks, and this place runs on close to 2,000 litres a week just to stay open. 11250 litres to be precise x
I am absolutely not here to take advantage of anyone — just focused doing my absolute best to keep a service running in a pretty tough environment
I have advised everyone who is coming up this way to bring fuel xx I will do everything I can to make fuel available as will every other supplier on the island xx

If you support us, all of us on the island thank you — it honestly means everything. And if you don’t quite get it, we hope this helps explain why.

That barstool in the foreground… that’s you, Deets.

You used to joke about it all the time — how when your day came, there’d better be tributes left in the bar. Not a sad little whisper either. People laughing. You fully intended on being the most celebrated “absent” bloke in the room.

And honestly… you weren’t wrong.

You were never quiet. Never dull. And you loved your family fiercely — loudly, proudly, without hesitation. They were your greatest achievement, and we all knew it.

So here we are.
Your stool, front and centre.
Your favourite w**e barrel beside it.
Your people behind it — raising glasses, smiling through it, doing exactly what you said they should.

You expected tributes in the bar.

Every clink of glass today was for you.
Every laugh today carried your name.

But every time someone points at that stool and says, “That’s Deets’ spot,” you’re right back here with us.
