Born in the USA by way of Bloomington, Indiana, and BORN AGAIN as a full-gas Australian working-class rock unit in Newcastle, NSW, ABC Gum are a bubblegum revival art-rock band with a penchant for ear worm hooks, garage-rock grit and teenage feelings. Drawing on the sugary pop confections of the late ’60s but tempered with a darkness that rightfully reflects our current tension, the band chew up and spit out bubblegum, power pop and rock n’ roll stompers, singing songs of lust and love with tones of heartbreak, dejection and the occasional vision of the grave. It’s Midwestern bubblegum reimagined, straight from the heartland to the Hunter. ABC Gum join Equestrian Fields at The Tramway in Melbourne on Friday, November 13.
