Meet Chris! 👋
If you’ve been down to Emu Bay this month, you might have spotted Chris walking the beach. He’s out there every day throughout October, raising money for a cause very close to his heart, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
In Chris’s own words:
“I suffered a severe brain injury 20 odd years ago after a car accident in N.Z where I was working at the time, was in a coma, lost sight in my left eye, had numerous broken bones including my hip & know how vital urgent help is - I am alive because of doctors care.
I spent the next 2 years learning how to walk & talk again, as well as how to handle social interactions at a rehabilitation centre for brain injuries.
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).“
