A huge congratulations to Leanne and Steve on the purchase of the Aloomba Hotel!

What’s even more impressive is that in just six weeks of ownership, they’ve already given the pub a huge new lease on life. The improvements and passion they’ve brought to the hotel have not gone unnoticed, and it’s fantastic to see what can be achieved when great publicans get behind a country pub.

Regional pubs are the heart of our communities, and it’s always great to see people investing their time, effort, and passion into keeping them alive and thriving.

We’d love our followers to jump across, give the Aloomba Hotel page a follow, and show Leanne and Steve some support. Better yet, if you’re heading south of Cairns, call in for a cold beer and see for yourself.

MONDAY STAFF MEETING

If you’ve tucked into one of our famous crocodile burgers, enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak, or left the Tavern saying “that was a bloody good feed,” chances are you’ve got Cameron to thank.

As Head Chef at the El Arish Tavern, Cam spends his days keeping the kitchen running, making sure every plate that leaves the pass is something he’d be proud to put his name to. From busy weekends to special events and functions, he’s the bloke making it all happen.

So next time you’re in, say g’day to Cam and give him a nod of appreciation.

As the last of yesterdays bikes from the Show & Shine rolled out this morning after a huge night, we barely had time to catch our breath before the next wave of visitors arrived!

We welcomed birthday celebrations, families enjoying a Sunday outing, and even a football team who stopped in for a well-earned cold drink.

A big congratulations to the Cairns Chieftains on their win! It was great to have you all at the Tavern celebrating with your trophy in hand.

Weekends like this remind us why we love country pub life. From motorcycles and classic cars to birthdays, sporting victories, plenty of campers, and families catching up over a meal, there’s always something happening at the El Arish Tavern.

SHOW & SHINE WRAP

A huge thank you to the Freedom Riders Townsville for choosing the El Arish Tavern to host our very first Show & Shine. The support was absolutely incredible, not only from the entrants but also from the locals, visitors, and everyone who came along to enjoy the day.

At one stage we had just shy of 100 motorcycles lined up, alongside some magnificent classic and custom cars. We even had a very bright mobility scooter throw its wheels into the competition, proving that everyone was welcome to join in the fun!

The atmosphere was made even better by the fantastic tunes from Beerbody live band, who kept the crowd entertained throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Nothing beats live music, cold beers, cool night and great company at a country pub.

The cool season has definitely arrived in FNQ. Waking up this morning to see tents scattered around the pub by campers who settled in for the night was a pretty good reminder that this is one of the best times of year to get out and explore our region.

Most importantly, the generosity shown throughout the lead up and on the day was outstanding. Between the Freedom Riders, the Tavern, and everyone who dug deep to donate, we managed to raise a couple of thousand dollars for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.

Events like this remind us what country communities are all about – good people, great conversations, amazing machines, live music, and getting behind a worthy cause.

Thank you to everyone who attended, entered, donated, camped overnight, volunteered, or simply came along to support the day. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Here’s to making the event even bigger and better!

Friday Fun & Feasts at the Tavern!

The concreting is done and the backyard is looking better than ever, with a new addition making it an even more inviting spot to kick back with a cold one.

Last night was another cracker, with a packed dining room and plenty of groups already making the most of the beer garden while inhaling a few smoked crocs and enjoying a feed under the FNQ sky.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. Your support keeps this old country pub buzzing and we love seeing both familiar faces and first-time visitors enjoying what El Arish has to offer.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at today’s Show & Shine. Come check out the bikes, enjoy a cold beer, grab a feed, and celebrate Queensland the way it should be celebrated on QLD DAY.

A visit from a local legend!

Today we had Eric drop in to congratulate us on bringing home the Publicans Day Trophy and got a quick picture with our true legend, Bob.

Eric is one of the many characters that make the El Arish Tavern such a special place.

If you see Eric at the bar, don’t be shy—pull up a stool, say g’day, and listen to a few stories from a true local legend. Chances are you’ll leave with a laugh, a smile, and maybe a bit of local history as well.

It’s people like Eric and all our wonderful locals who make the El Arish Tavern more than just a pub — it’s a community.
