Today is World Donut Day, and ever since I was a kid, the epitome of "treat yo self!" was always a fresh cream filled donut from Hulms Bakery Colac . I remember Pa taking me there to get one as a secret treat as a kid (his brother was also married to Lindsay's sister, because - you know - Colac...), and still to this day every time I get a sanga or a veggie roll for lunch from Kerry and the team, and cream donut gets added to the order too.

Is it the healthiest lunch? Probably not. Is it worth every delicious bite? Absolutely.

So after a big night at The Bar tonight, if you're feeling a little sorry for yourself tomorrow morning, head in a treat yourself to one (or two!).

Good drinks, good music, your favourite people, and at least one photo where everyone says, “That’s actually a really good one, send it to me.”

Tonight we’re kicking things off with RnB Friday from 8pm. Smooth throwbacks, dancefloor favourites, and all the songs you somehow still know every word to.

Then tomorrow night, we’re back for Karaoke Saturday from 9pm. Bring the confidence, borrow some from your friends, or just come along to cheer, laugh, and witness someone absolutely commit to a power ballad.

Free entry both nights.

This Friday night, The Bar is turning the lights down and the RnB all the way up.

We’re talking smooth throwbacks, sing-along bangers, guilty pleasures, dancefloor classics and the kind of tracks that make you say, “I forgot how good this song is.”

Doors open from 7pm, entry is free, and the vibe is strictly 18+.

Round up the crew, dust off your best “I’m only having one drink” lie, and come spend your Friday night where the music is better, the drinks are colder, and everyone else’s weekend stories are going to sound suspiciously like they started at The Bar.

May 2026 marked 21 years since 27 Murray Street opened it's doors as a live venue. It started as Barney's Tavern, then became The Place To Be Inn, then Sketa's, and now lives on as The Bar.

Obviously the place holds special memories for us - Jordie and I had our first kiss there (Christmas Eve 2015), I celebrated my 30th there, we had our engagement party there, we even had Ellie's 1st birthday there during COVID! Plus it was the first place I ever performed on stage, both solo and as the lead of a band!

And we know that it holds so many memories for so many others in our community from over the years. If you have photos - we'd love to see them! Drop them in the comments below!

Over the next few months, to mark 21 amazing years, the venue will be getting a bit of a glow up. You'll see lots of changes between now and September - including a brand new logo which will be unveiled in the next few weeks!

Help us celebrate this coming weekend, with RnB Friday on Friday night (obviously haha!), then Karaoke on Saturday night!
