Welcome to Cocktail Events! We are professional, fun and engaging bartenders who are completely mobile and have a burning passion for three things:

Real Cocktails, Real People and Real Fun! The advantage of being mobile means that

we can be almost anywhere, any time. We love our classic cocktails – from the roaring 20s, right through to the awesome 80s, but like any good bartender, we’ll always make your drink just the way you like it. Our bars are always engaging and fun, just like the bartenders who run them. We celebrate with you and engage with your guests, because we know that having a great bartender and freshly made, professional cocktails will propel your event up to the next level. We travel extensively for our clients to produce delicious cocktails for special occasions and events such as:

• Cocktail Parties – for any reason really

• Engagements & Weddings – to celebrate the love in our lives

• Hens’ & Bucks’ Nights – a day or night to remember

• Corporate Events – to get to know your clients or colleagues a little better

• Birthday Parties – for the celebration of age and wisdom

• Themed Parties – we love these as they’re great icebreakers for guests who might not know each other that well

Or whenever, wherever friends might meet for a night of divine cocktails and great fun!

Is everyone around you sick with the flu?

It seems everywhere I look people are sniffling and sneezing around me complaining of this dreaded flu that hits every winter. I might have just the thing to get rid of it just that little bit quicker, and make you feel a hell of a lot better in the process.

It’s a little old school, and many of you would have heard of this but have never done it. It’s a remedy that dates back to the1700’s in Scotland, it is the Hot Toddy. Back then this drink was made with a smoky scotch whisky, some hot water, lemon and honey, however over time this recipe has evolved and these days you can just use your favourite brown spirit, be it bourbon, rum, scotch or Irish whisky. I personally like scotch, but for the Hot Toddy I prefer to use the sailors choice, rum.

Here is the recipe;

60ml Rum, Bourbon, Scotch or Irish Whisky
20ml Fresh lemon juice
2 Cinnamon sticks
1 Tsp Manuka honey
(Optional)
Cloves

Method
Add all ingredients to a heat proof glass of around 250ml, and top with boiling water. Stir and drink this as hot as you can, and as fast as you can.

It won’t be long before your nose dries up (about 15mins) and you’ll feel a lot better. If not, repeat!

You may find yourself laughing and cackling for no reason at all, but this is just a happy side effect. Also another thing you can be sure of is that with one or two of these, you will sleep like a baby.

Cheers to good health :)

Are You SCARED??? You should be...

For this Saturday night is Halloween, a night where the line between the world of the living, and the world of the dead becomes blurred. The scary masks are worn to trick the dead into thinking the living were "one of them", at least that's what the Celtics believed over 2000 years ago. If you still believe that then you should be scared, not of the dead, but of yourself... ;)

These days we just use it as another great reason to dress up and have a party. While all of our cocktails come from a particular era in the last 100 years, we do like to dress them up for themed parties for a little extra fun and as you can imagine they taste amazing!

P.S You can't eat the eyeballs (Just in case you were wondering)

Forgive me father for I have sinned….

It’s been a while since my last confession… but over the past few weeks I have been carrying around this enormous feeling of guilt.. You see father I am tasked everyday with the responsibility of producing exquisite mouthwatering and timeless cocktails, designed to entice and excite all who dare pass this divine elixir over their wanting lips.

I have sinned father… for below is a delicious series of what should be Cocktail Shooters for which I am so renowned for, but no while these may look like one of my decadent range of Cocktails Shooters, they are missing one very important ingredient…alcohol.. Yes that’s right these shooters contain no alcohol, none, nada, zip!

You could drink these all night and all you’ll end up with is a brown moustache... (think milk :) )

Yes that’s right, occasionally I am required to make a delicious range of Mocktails and Mocktail Shooters for those among you who either can’t drink because of whatever reason, or simply don’t want to, but still want to have a fantastic night. which is really what we are all about.

Well I am off to cleanse my soul and keep the spirit gods happy, time for a Martini.

Have an awesome weekend.

Cheers

Can I entice and excite you with a ‘Hot Shot’ of sweet vanilla, fresh hot coffee and a big dose of warm cream?

It’s quite a mouthful I assure you…

Many of you may not remember this drink, it was introduced way back in about 1987 and was known as the Galliano ‘Hot Shot’. Now Galliano has been around for years, since 1896 to be exact and comes from our Italian friends. Most of you will be familiar with the Black Sambuca variety of Galliano but what I am talking about here is the original vanilla version, which the yellow one.

The ‘Hot Shot’ is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly night like tonight. If you still have a few of these sexy original shot glasses sitting in the cupboard, then now is the time to use them.

You will need a 60ml shot glass, then layer in order;

15ml Galliano Liqueur (Vanilla)
25ml of your favourite hot espresso coffee
20ml of either thickened or very lightly whipped cream

Told you it was a mouthful… Yum!

Need a little fun on your tongue, then this is the drink for you..;)

The Grasshopper is certainly not a serious cocktail. It’s a fun, velvety smooth mix of rich chocolate and mint, and may just conjure up memories of eating choc mint lollies as a child. This delicious cocktail is absolutely perfect as a dessert, especially when topped with flakes of chocolate. The good thing is that it’s not a terribly strong cocktail alcohol wise, so you can certainly have more than one to cap of the night.

It’s strange because for such a fun cocktail its origins date back to a much more serious time in history. It was said to have been created in 1919 just before Prohibition in America began, by Philibert Guichet Jr who was the owner of Tujaque’s bar in New Orleans. Philibert made this for a cocktail contest supposedly held in the same year, however this doesn’t appear to be likely, as one of the judges for the contest was Walter Winchell whose career didn’t really take off until 1920. This means that contest was most likely held during the Prohibition era, when the consumption and sale of alcohol in America was seriously against the law.

This is certainly not a drink you’ll find on many bar menus, but I am glad to say it’s certainly on ours for guests to enjoy as a delectable late night treat.

Cheers!

Do you feel like skinny dipping in Paris?

The birthplace of this cocktail is a world famous bar just a short stroll from the Seine River in the heart of Paris. What could be more invigorating than a quick dip in the river, especially when currently it’s 5am over there and about 6 degrees Celsius. Any guy you know that’s prepared to do that gets my vote for the worlds shortest open display of manhood, and would probably make it into the Guinness record books.

This cocktail was created by Andy MacElthone in the warmth of the oldest cocktail bar in Europe, which opened in 1911 and was just named “New York Bar”. It was later purchased by Harry MacElthone, Andy’s father who in 1923 added his name to the front of it to attract the growing number of Americans heading to Paris. Andy created this colourful drink known as the Blue Lagoon in 1960 when blue curacao first appeared in a bottle.

The recipe for this has changed a little over time. When Andy first made the Blue Lagoon he used vodka, blue curacao & fresh lemon juice, instead of lemonade which we currently use today.

However you decide to have it, I can assure you it’s more refreshing than a predawn dip in the Seine River, and certainly much prettier to look at.

Cheers!

Which frozen daiquiri tickles your fancy or even your tastebuds?

We are still in the midst of summer and there’s not much more refreshing than a frozen daiquiri. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not talking about the slushy machines you see at 7/11, nor am I talking about the daiquiri machines you can hire for parties that produce cordial laden snow cones, with so much sugar that you’re just not sure if they contain any alcohol at all. I am talking about a cocktail that was created in 1912 by Constantino Ribailagua of Cuba. Now back then they didn’t have slushy machines or blenders so this version was made by crushing ice by hand, putting it into the glass and pouring the shaken alcohol mixture over the top. This has an almost immediate freezing effect and gives the drink it’s light sorbet texture. As you would expect like most drinks that originate from Cuba, it contains rum.

These days we have our saviour, the blender. It can produce 6-8 drinks at a time with perfect consistency. There are many versions of the frozen daiquiri, here at Cocktail Events we do the strawberry, peach, mango and the banana daiquiri as shown in the picture. You can use almost any fruit or combination of fresh fruits, just don’t mix too many or it might get a little confusing to the taste buds.
I think my favourite fruit fusion daiquiri to would be fresh strawberries with over ripe bananas, Bacardi rum, a hint of Malibu Coconut Liqueur and a light squeeze of fresh lime. I may even add this to our menu under a “Fruit Fusion” range that utilises only the freshest in season fruits. Naturally these would change from season to season.

What do you think?

Do you have a favourite frozen daiquiri, or maybe a "Fruit Fusion" cocktail you'd like to try?

Cheers!
