Well it’s that time of year again.. when the weather starts to warm.. and the air conditioning just doesn’t seem to be able to keep up and do its job as efficiently as it did last year.. that’s when we call Adam from Noz Air to sort s**t out!!

He does the most thorough clean and service that money can buy to ensure that all of our air-con units are running at 100% efficiency so that you are comfortable when you visit The Old Seven next..

He’s even worked his magic on our home wine cellar and air-con units.. and if there’s one thing that I’ve learnt in 16 years of marriage.. it’s that a cool Nellie in Summer is a happy Nellie in Summer.. you know.. happy wife, happy life n all that..

Each time Matt updates the list he tries his hardest to outdo his previous one.. and this time he’s nailed it.. or so he says..

Harvest dates have been accurately recorded since 1822 in Champagne.. and 2026 marks the earliest harvest in recorded history..

Pickers started their work as early as August 6th this year in some parts with vintage well under the way by August 12th across the region.. the previous earliest recorded harvest dates being 17th August in 2020 and 18th August in 2003.

Spring frosts in March damaged up to 40% of the budding vines.. and then followed by heatwaves and drought in Summer.. Mothernature is sure making it extra hard to produce a premium product from year to year.. probably because we’ve fu**ed the planet..

Who’d be a farmer these days, eh?!
Luckily some folks persevere!

Anyway.. here’s a pic of a bottle of Krug Nellie and I shared while staying in a treehouse on the property of a Champagne producer in 2013.. the consumption part has always been my favourite part of the wine industry!! 🥂
