Company Overview
The Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club was established in 1930, on the same site that our modern clubhouse now stands. Originally known as the City of Brisbane Surf Life Savers, the club was made up of Brisbane members that travelled to the coast each week to sleep in tent accommodation overnight while patrolling the beach during the day. In October 2005, the Club celebrated its 75t
h Anniversary. And to this day, we maintain a proud history of never having had a loss of life in our patrol area. Many things have changed over the years, but the commitment of members to provide a safe swimming area for the local and holidaying public remains as strong as ever. Our multi-million dollar clubhouse facilities are located right on the beach at the junction of Seventh Avenue and Jefferson Lane. To our supporting and social patrons we provide a restaurant, bar, gaming room and meeting facilities. The lifesaving members enjoy their own club area which has dormitories (male and female), kitchen, lounge area, gymnasium, training rooms and secure storage for a multitude of competition and patrolling equipment. The Club has a strong group of senior members ranging from Old Boys, Life Members and dedicated patrolling members through to the 7 year old nipper. All of our patrolling members hold a Certificate Two in Aquatic Safety to comply with the Associationโs requirements. And for those that wish to further their lifesaving skills, training is available for the many other areas of advanced accreditations. Our Junior Association (Nippers) is as strong as any other Surf Club on the Gold Coast and a dedicated group of parents make up the Junior committee that oversee their activities. These include Saturday morning club events, after school training and competition at carnivals and other championships. Surf Sports is a key component in lifesaving for those wishing to pursue competition in the many individual or team disciplines. Palm Beach employs a professional coach who provides skills and endurance guidance to our training squad. Our Club offers much to many. We invite you to become a part of our โfamilyโ and enjoy all that being a lifesaver has to offer.
