Hey all Cairns Musos,
The dates, venue and prize pool for this year's Passport to Airlie in Cairns is set. First up, the heats and final will be held at the sweetest venue in FNQ, Skypark Cairns by AJ Hackett on the following dates:
Heat 1: Sunday 29th August, 2021
Heat 2: Sunday 5th September, 2021
Final: Sunday 12th September, 2021
The overall Cairns prize pool is:
โก๏ธ VIP tickets to the Airlie Beach Festival Of Music for each band member valued at $1000 each. (inc food and drinks)
โก๏ธ 4 nights' accommodation at the festival.
โก๏ธ A $1000 performance fee at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music. (Minimum 3 x 30 min gigs required)
โก๏ธ A 10 hour recording session at The Studio Hutch valued at $750
โก๏ธ The profits from the Passport to Airlie raffles (For fuel and spending money at Airlie ๐ ).
โก๏ธ Automatic entry into Passport To Airlie Grand Final...(and if you happen to get up, you get a fully paid headline on the main stage next year and a s**t load of publicity to boot). As a side note: The Grand Final for Passport to Airlie, will be held at Magnums at Airlie Beach with a celebrity judging panel on Thursday 4 November, the winner announced on main stage Sunday the 7th.

In the heats, the three judges will pick the first three acts to go through to the finals, the 4th act will be via a People's Choice ballot by those present on the day. For the finals the three judges scores will be tallied to find an entrant into the Australia wide finals at Airlie in November.
Basic rules for entry are:
Whilst not repeating the T&C's that are attached to this post and the entry form online, here are the main points:
โก๏ธ Max 5 members per band.
โก๏ธ Entrants must be over 18yo.
โก๏ธ Previous winners are eligible to enter.
โก๏ธThe half hour set required to enter, must contain at least 3 original songs..
โก๏ธNo backing tracks can be used, sorry hip hop guys without a band.
โก๏ธAll music styles are welcome other than metalcore or deathcore, sorry core guys, ๐ wrong style of music for this festival.
โก๏ธYour act must be available to play the at the finals in Cairns 12th Sept and also at the ABFOM from 4th Nov (a Thursday night) to 7th Nov.
โก๏ธ I STRESS, PLEASE READ THE ENTRY CONDITIONS CAREFULLY!
Please be aware that we have limited spots available and those that do not get their entry in ASAP may miss out. We have a maximum of 18 spots...so far we have seven. Those that have entered early will be given the choice of heat dates, after one heat is full you will need to take the other, or swap with another act. Set times will not be determined until the day in question, however we will start at 12 noon and end around 7pm each Sunday. The event will be held on the Rainforest Stage at Skypark.
