What a Sunday. 🎸🔥

Yesterday’s Blues Central at Froth was one of those afternoons that reminds you exactly why we do this.
Both bands brought serious heat, the energy in the room was electric from the first note to the last, and the crowd absolutely loved every minute of it.

A special mention to the Bunbury Rock and Roll Club who came out in force and kept the dance floor pumping all afternoon — and to three-year-old Eve, who was arguably a highlight of the day, dancing up a storm and giving absolutely nothing less than 100%. The dance floor was in good hands. 💃

Big thanks to Dave Tiger and the Cubs and Micho Lupo for delivering the goods, to Brent on sound for making everything sing, and to the wonderful team at Froth Craft Brewery for being the best hosts in the business — as always.

The blues doesn’t stop — it just gets louder. 🎸

Our ears are still ringing from Blues Central this afternoon, and we’re already looking ahead to next Sunday because the June Jam Session is coming up fast and we want YOU in the room.

Whether you’ve been playing for decades or you’ve been quietly thinking about stepping up to a microphone for the first time, this is your afternoon. Bring your instrument, bring a mate, or just come and relax — a good time is guaranteed for all.

Club members, your help with sound setup and pack-down is always appreciated. Backline and amps are provided — just bring your pedals.

Look, we know it’s winter. We know the couch is comfortable. We know the footy’s on somewhere. But here’s the thing — you can watch blokes chase a ball any weekend. This Sunday, you can watch genuinely brilliant live music for free with a cold beer in your hand, and that’s a different thing entirely.

🔥 Dave Tiger and the Cubs
Dave Corcoran grew up in Liverpool soaking up British blues royalty — Clapton, Beck, Mayall — and he’s never quite gotten over it (we’re glad he hasn’t). He’s brought a serious band with him: Dana on drums, the brilliant Leigh Kelly on bass, and Gary Palfrey adding saxophone swagger that makes the whole thing move. Golden-era blues with real teeth. 🇬🇧🎸

🔥 Micho Lupo
Six-piece blues-rock firepower from Bridgetown. Mark on guitar, Marisa out front, Sandy on backing vocals, Joel on bass, Jack on drums and harmonica — and Cody on keys, who had a birthday yesterday and will absolutely be playing like he has something to celebrate. Come and help him mark the occasion properly. 🎹🎂

We’ve got something new for you. 🎸

Introducing Finish the Lyric — a brand new series from the South West Blues Club.

Here’s how it works. We give you a lyric from a well-known song with one line missing. You pick your answer from three options, swipe through to the reveal, and find out if you got it right. Every correct answer earns you a point on the leaderboard — but only until the next episode drops, so don’t sleep on it.

Now here’s the part that might surprise you. Every song we use has deep blues roots. Some of them you’ll recognise immediately. Others might catch you off guard. Because the blues isn’t some dusty corner of music history — it’s the foundation that virtually everything you love was built on. Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, ZZ Top, The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr. All of them learned to play by learning the blues.
That’s what this series is really about. Not just a quiz — a reminder that the blues is bigger than most people realise.

🎸 This Sunday at Blues Central — we’re shining the light on Dave Tiger and the Cubs.

Dave Corcoran grew up in Liverpool surrounded by the giants of British blues — Clapton, Beck, Mayall — and you can hear every one of them in the way he plays. He brought that golden-era sensibility with him to Bunbury, and he’s built something special around it. A tight, groove-locked band with serious credentials: Dana Renshaw on drums, Leigh Kelly on bass, and the unmistakable swagger of Gary Palfrey’s saxophone rounding out the sound.
This is blues that knows where it came from. 🇬🇧🎸

Whether you’re a club member or just love great live music, come down to Froth Craft Brewery on Victoria St for a free afternoon of pure blues goodness.

Dave Tiger and the Cubs open the show – Dave’s a Liverpool lad who grew up on British Blues royalty (Clapton, Beck, Mayall – the lot), and he’s brought a tight band with him: Dana on drums, the brilliant Leigh Kelly on bass, and swagger of Gary Palfrey’s sax. Expect licks that go all the way back to the golden era. 🇬🇧🎸

Following them, Micho Lupo close out the afternoon with something you won’t forget. Vocalist Marisa and guitarist Mark De Vattimo have a musical chemistry that just works, and with Sandy, Cody, Joel and the latest addition to the lineup, Jack behind them, this six-piece swings from smoky cool ballads to high-voltage riffs without missing a beat. Pure feel-it-in-your-bones blues rock. 🎹🥁
