On Sunday 30 August the Broken Hill Field and Game Association conducted a 75 target sporting clays handicap championship shoot. The shoot was generously sponsored by Lindsay Pearce from LTP Refrigeration, Electrical and Air Conditioning. The weather was mild, clear and sunny, perfect conditions for shooting clay targets. After a very busy month of travelling and shooting for our members, organisers were pleased with an attendance of 23 shooters.

The range was set by Gary, Grant and Tim who did an excellent job to present a very good selection of targets that were a pleasure to shoot. There were some hard targets, some easy targets, some tricky targets, and all great fun to shoot. Scores were just a bit below average, maybe it was the rabbits.

The best score off the gun was a very good total of 62 that was shot by Clay Johnston who won the High Gun Medal and trophy with a few targets up his sleeve at the finish. The best handicap total for the shoot was a very impressive 83 shot by B Grade winner Rod Grenfell representing the Milparinka Club.

BROKEN HILL FIELD AND GAME NEWS

BROKEN HILL HOSTS NSW STATE CLAY TARGET SHOOT

On Saturday August 8 the Broken Hill Field and Game Association hosted the sixth round of the 100 target NSW State Team Selection Shoot series. The shoot was sponsored by NSW Sporting Clays and Broken Hill Field and Game.

The weekend was heavily overcast and very cool, but the impending rain stayed away which made for good shooting conditions.

Organisers were delighted with an attendance just shy of 80 shooters which included much appreciated support from clubs across NSW, and from our regular visitors from Victoria and South Australia.

The range was set by Josh and Gerard and their team of hard workers who did a great job. The range provided a lot of variety and could be quite challenging but was a lot of fun and was very well received by the shooters.

The best off gun score for the shoot was an excellent total of 88/100 that was shot by Darren Sasse from the Majura Park club at Canberra. Darren shot very consistently, finished a couple of shots clear of his nearest rivals, and was a deserving winner of the high gun sash.

⚠️ SHOOT CANCELLED – SUNDAY 9TH AUGUST ⚠️

Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to cancel today’s scheduled shoot due to the overnight rain and the forecast for wet weather to continue throughout the day.
