FRONT 2 BACK x DEEP POP 🪩🪩

This Wednesday 3rd June, FRONT 2 BACK dives into two records that sit just outside the lines of modern pop.

MK.GEE - ‘Two Star & the Dream Police’
A hazy, shape shifting record where warped guitars, fragmented melodies and raw songwriting collide. Unpredictable and completely its own thing.

BLOOD ORANGE - ‘Negro Swan’
Warm, reflective and deeply personal. Dev Hynes blends R&B, soul and pop into a record full of feeling, subtle detail and effortless groove.

Two artists making pop music on their own terms.
Played front to back on the Stan’s system.

FRONT 2 BACK x TRIP HOP TRANSMISSION

This Wednesday 27th of May, FRONT 2 BACK dives deep into two shadowy, cinematic and endlessly influential records. Portishead and Massive Attack blurred the lines between hip hop, dub, soul and electronica to create the sound of the after hours.

PORTISHEAD - ‘Dummy’
A haunting masterpiece of smoky beats, crackled samples and Beth Gibbons’ aching vocals. ‘Dummy’ moves between intimacy and paranoia with effortless cool, capturing the feeling of a city at 2am. Melancholic, seductive and impossible to replicate, it remains one of the defining albums of the 90s.

MASSIVE ATTACK - ‘Blue Lines’
The blueprint for trip hop. Soulful, spacious and deeply groove driven, ‘Blue Lines’ fused hip hop rhythms with reggae, funk and atmospheric production to create something entirely new. A record that feels both laidback and revolutionary and still sounds decades ahead of its time.

Two albums that transformed underground music into cultural canon. Played front to back on the Stan’s system.

$10 snacks and specially curated cocktails from 5pm ‘til late.

Kai Alce at Stan’s Lounge. Friday 5th June. 🐉

From New York to Detroit to Atlanta, story is deeply woven into the history of American house music. Through his label NDATL, named for the three cities that shaped him, Alcé has built a catalogue rooted in warmth, soul and deep musicality, championing both originators and future voices.

FRONT 2 BACK x CLUB ICONS ⚡️

This Wednesday 20th May, Front 2 Back steps into CLUB ICONS. Two records that reshaped pop through image, attitude and total artistic control. Bold, uncompromising and impossible to imitate, Grace Jones and Madonna didn’t follow culture… They bent it around them.

Grace Jones - Living My Life
Cold wave, reggae, disco and art pop fused into something entirely singular. Sleek but dangerous, Living My Life moves with precision and presence, carried by Grace’s unmistakable voice and fearless sense of style. A record that feels as confrontational as it does seductive. Still ahead of its time.

Madonna - Madonna
Pure downtown club energy. Built on bright synths, dancefloor grooves and undeniable hooks, Madonna captured the raw optimism of early 80s New York nightlife and turned it into pop history. Playful, confident and endlessly influential, this is where the blueprint began.

Two records that defined the art of reinvention. Played front to back on the Stan’s system.
$10 snacks and specially curated cocktails from 5pm ‘til late.

FRONT 2 BACK x KINGS OF NEW YORK

This Wednesday 13th of May, FRONT 2 BACK returns with Kings of New York... And a special birthday celebration for the King of Stanley, Head Chef Louis Tikaram, who will be hosting the night.

We’re marking the occasion with a front to back journey through three landmark New York records that defined the sound and spirit of the city through jazz sampling, sharp storytelling and undeniable presence.

A Tribe Called Quest - ‘Midnight Marauders’
Smooth, soulful and endlessly influential. Jazz-heavy production, effortless chemistry and laidback grooves that helped redefine alternative hip hop in the 90s.

Nas - ‘Illmatic’
Raw, cinematic and timeless. A vivid portrait of New York through Nas’ razor-sharp lyricism and some of the greatest hip hop production ever put to tape.

Jay-Z - ‘The Blueprint’
Confident, polished and culture-shifting. Soulful sampling and sharp delivery cemented Jay-Z as one of New York’s defining voices.

Three iconic New York hip hop records, played front to back on the Stan’s system.

Next week’s FRONT 2 BACK features Club Icons, Grace Jones - ‘Living My Life’ and Madonna - ‘Madonna’.
