Before/After
Commercial Road Public Bar’s last night of trade before we move tonight brings a message from Kyle.
“Hi, Hello,
9,252 bottles of wine sold, 4,112 pizzas sold, 10 drag queens, 8 staff, 3 pairs of my high heel boots, and 1 incredible community since our opening in September last year.
What I feel we’ve achieved in this current space, I can say I’m proud of.
The day CRPB opened, I literally had $1,000 in my bank account, it was make or break, there was no option of the venue failing.
I had the confidence and drive but only thanks to my incredible family, amazing girlfriend and such loveable staff so my thank you’s start here, but are continued on to our patrons.
You guys have proved Newstead, Teneriffe, New Farm and The Valley and all other visiting suburbs in the area, possess an incredible plethora of demographics, all whom have mentioned, how safe, comfortable, energised and excited they feel when they’re in the venue.
There’s never been a fight or any negativity in the venue really and after 9 months, that’s proof the venue is pretty special.
Opening a venue after the COVID-19 lockdown last year had its risks. No job keeper benefits, no rent reduction but we made it a success, more importantly, we all had fun while doing it.
It was a long time to opening after agreeing to do the venue in Dec 2019 but we’ve found our feet, and have 2 venues on the horizon.
Our Fortitude Valley venue, Queens, will open this month and when we’re settled and in a groove we’ll open the new Newstead space as Newstead Public Bar.
This page will turn into the Queens social media handle tomorrow morning as we finish the build in 368 Brunswick St.
We’re open 5pm-10pm tonight before our move tomorrow, so come through for a cuddle or a wine, or both.
I actually don’t know what stock we have left after our last week here but give it a shot anyway.
Again, can’t thank our community enough, you’re the best and we love you. See you up at Queens in the Valley. “
