We need a little support from our community. 🤎
Some of you may not know that, as part of moving Seekers just a short distance into our new home at Boat Harbour Beach, we've applied to Council for approval that would allow us to continue and grow some of the things Seekers has offered over the years — dinner service, weddings and functions, live music and special events.
Our application is now going before Council, and the recommendation currently before them would place restrictions on our ability to offer some of these things from our new venue.
That's why we're reaching out to our community.
For years, Seekers has been more than a daytime café. We've opened for dinners, hosted weddings, functions and celebrations, held live music and special events — all right here at Boat Harbour Beach.
Being able to continue hosting weddings and special occasions was also a big part of what we envisioned for this beautiful new space. We have an incredible location here in Tasmania, and we'd love to continue seeing people celebrate some of the biggest moments of their lives right here in Boat Harbour Beach.
We're not asking to suddenly become something completely different.
We're asking for the opportunity to continue providing the kinds of services Seekers has provided from this beach for years, while working within sensible conditions that respect the people who live around us.
We completely understand that noise and residential amenity need to be considered. We're willing to work with Council and our neighbours on reasonable conditions around music, noise, finishing times and the number of events we hold.
What we're hoping for is a fair balance — one that protects residential amenity while still allowing Seekers to operate as the café, restaurant and function venue we've worked so hard to build.
This matters to us because these services are an important part of the future of Seekers. They allow us to employ local people, support Tasmanian producers and musicians, welcome visitors to our little corner of the coast, and provide somewhere for people to celebrate weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.
The support we've received from this community, particularly through our move and everything that's come with it, has meant more to us than we can say.

This isn't about attacking an individual, choosing sides or creating division in Boat Harbour. Everyone has a right to raise their concerns, and we respect that.
We're simply hoping a reasonable balance can be found that respects our neighbours while allowing Seekers to continue doing what we love in our new home.
We love Boat Harbour. We live here too. And we want Seekers to be a place our community can enjoy and celebrate in for many years to come. 🤎
