What are we drinking this weekend? 🥂

We’re currently pouring the 2022 Liv Zak Vintage Brut from our friends at Warramunda Estate in the Upper Yarra Valley, and we think it’s a pretty lovely way to kick off the weekend!

Made using the traditional method and aged on lees in the bottle for over two years, this beautiful sparkling has developed lovely depth, texture and complexity.

Expect fine, delicate bubbles, fresh citrus, green apple and nashi pear, with a touch of toasted brioche and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Next time you’re joining us for dinner, you know what to start with! 🥂

Our long table can accommodate up to 12 guests, with seasonal set menus starting from $65pp.

For larger celebrations, exclusive venue hire is available. (minimum spends applies to dinner bookings and Sunday lunch)

Prefer a lunchtime celebration? Private lunch functions are available Monday to Saturday. As we’re normally closed for lunch on these days, you’ll enjoy exclusive use of the entire restaurant, with no minimum spend required!

The most popular dates tend to go first, so we recommend getting in touch early to secure your preferred date.

A timeless classic, and one we never get tired of.

Twice-baked Emmental soufflé, Parmesan cream and walnut pesto. Rich and cheesy, with the walnut pesto adding just enough freshness to keep everything in balance. Very much worth ordering.

Kick off the long weekend with us. It’s business as usual at Cognoscenti. 🥂

We’re open from 5pm Friday and Saturday, with Golden Hour from 5–6pm: half-price oysters, $10 Prosecco and $10 pints.

Sunday we’re open from 11:30am for lunch and again from 5pm for dinner.

This week’s Sunday roast is roast beef porterhouse with Hasselback potato, green beans, roast pumpkin, Yorkshire pudding & jus. Available for lunch only, alongside the full à la carte menu.

It’s every bit as decadent as it sounds — layers of chocolate mud cake, dark chocolate mousse, espresso crémeux, tonka bean anglaise and a little cornflake crunch to finish.

Rich, indulgent, and definitely not one to share. 😉

This week’s feature pour.

2021 Domaine Santa Duc ‘Aux Lieux-Dits’ Gigondas.

A beautiful expression of Gigondas from one of the Southern Rhône’s most respected estates. A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault, sourced from vines averaging around 40 years old.

Generous and layered, with dark cherry, blackberry and plum, alongside dried herbs, spice and a touch of earth.
There’s plenty of depth, but also freshness and fine tannins carrying through to a long, savoury finish.

A seriously good Gigondas, and one we’re very happy to be pouring by the glass.

We’re very excited to welcome Warramunda Estate to Cognoscenti for a special w**e dinner on Wednesday 21 October.

For one night only, we’ll gather around one long table with w**emaker Rob, his wife Irene and their daughter Olivia to share the story of their family, vineyard and w**es.

For the occasion, Rob has delved into the cellar and uncovered a selection of rare back vintages, including some of their earliest releases dating back to 2013.

With very limited quantities remaining, it’s a special opportunity to taste these w**es, each matched with a dish created by our kitchen for the evening.

Doors open from 6pm, with a glass of Liv Zak Méthode Sparkling Rosé and canapés on arrival. At 6:30pm, we’ll gather around the table and begin the evening.
