Day 2 of the Chaîne’s International Grand Chapitre in AIx-en-Provence, France … Chateau Virant in Lançon-Provence.

Put 125 members from around the world, including Australia - different countries, cultures and languages - at a 140 metre long table in a shady olive grove surrounded by vineyards and you have a recipe for camaraderie and a worldwide family.

Add a four-course dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chef Mathias Dandine and his team and you take it to a new level. Add beautiful wines from Chateau Virant and you’ve got a crowd pleaser.

Add dining under the stars surrounded by laughter and friendly banter and you have a very memorable experience.

The photos say it all …

What a fantastic first night for the Grand Chapitre in Aix-en-Provence, France. A large Australian contingent joined more than 120 members at the historic Centre d’Art Caumont for drinks and canapés in the courtyard before a three course dinner in the exquisite dining rooms.

Chaine President Yam Atallah welcomed members from around the world, specifically mentioning Australia. The Australian presence included Bailli Délégué and Member of the Conseil Magistral, Norm Harrison, Serena Harrison-North, Bruce and Deborah Mackie, Brenda and Peter Ramsay, Robyn and Kevin Danes, Roger and Penny Phillips, Alf and Mary Anne de Souza, Phil Steer, and Anika Pawson.

The sense of connection was palpable as old friends caught up and new friendships were forged. Here are a few snaps that encapsulate the conviviality and excellent wines and cuisine of the evening.

This is shaping up to be a fantastic experience!
