Meet Sara, our Sous Chef at Bottega Bandito and one of the hearts behind our Arequipe. Born and raised in Colombia, Sara and the kitchen team got together to make Arequipe, a traditional Colombian dulce de leche, to raise funds for communities affected by the recent earthquake in Colombia. With the time donated from the Bottega team and the ingredients donated by Bottega Bandito, every single dollar goes straight to ActionAid Australia’s Colombia Earthquake Emergency Appeal.

Now back to the FUN stuff. By the spoonful? With fruit? With ice cream? Or with halloumi? 🍓

The recent earthquake in Colombia has hit close to home for many of our Bottega Bandito kitchen team, and they knew exactly how to help. The answer was Arequipe….

Arequipe is a traditional Colombian dulce de leche, slow-cooked from milk, cream and sugar until thick, golden and rich.

Born and raised in Colombia, Sara’s whole family is there. When she thinks of home, she thinks of arequipe.

This jar is doing BIG THINGS!!

She’s handmade by the chefs who grew up eating it, to raise funds for communities affected by the earthquake.

Every Colombian knows arequipe. It's a childhood staple, a comfort food, something your parents put in your hands on special occasions. One spoonful and it takes you straight back home x

Crispy fried chicken and chips coated in spice bag seasoning, curry mayo, sweet and sour peppers, fried curry leaves and a curry sauce on the side for drizzling. This sando is an UMAMI BOMB with subtle spice throughout.
