This year, we are celebrating 15 years of Circus.
15 years of nights I will never forget: music, lights, shows, looks, madness, friendships, love, and memories that have become part of my life.
First of all: thank you. Truly. To everyone who has danced with us, worked with us, performed with us, dressed up, showed up, brought friends, brought energy, and made Circus what it is.
I’m Simon, the founder and producer behind Circus. For most of these 15 years I stayed in the background. I‘m a bit shy and for me this was never about public recognition. It was always the about creating the best event possible.
Now Circus is entering a new chapter.
Nightlife is going through a difficult time, and things have been tough for us too. But I believe more than ever that we need spaces like Circus: places where we can let loose, come together, feel free, and find each other again.
Going forward, I want to speak with you more directly. Soon I will invite everyone who has ever bought a Circus ticket to share feedback, ideas, and wishes, starting with a survey.
A big change, effective immediately: will no longer be part of the Circus team. This was decided at the beginning of the year and is a mutual agreement from both sides. I want to thank Tamara for many years of collaboration and wish her well.
Just to say this clearly: there is no drama, no “Team Tamara” versus “Team Circus”. Everyone is free to support whoever they want. Everyone is welcome on the Circus stage.
Circus helped pioneer the drag show as an opening act for big gay parties. That will always be part of our history. But there are many ways to open a night, and I want to hear what you want to see, feel, and experience.
The visual world of Circus will also evolve, with more people from our community. Real people. Real photography. Real artistry. Real care.
Circus will proudly remain a rare night where many different parts of our community still come together in one room.
Thank you for 15 years of energy, loyalty, beauty, madness, and love.
I want to hear from you directly: [email protected].
Here are some moments from our last edition.
More soon.
Simon
