Farewell Fliegerbar Season 2023

We bid adieu to the official flying and Fliegerbar season of 2023 with a fantastic flying weekend in Kössen. Many students took advantage of the perfect conditions to complete their training and earn their pilot's licenses before the onset of winter.

Our tandem professionals were kept busy, providing passengers with magical views high above in the Kössen airspace. The Fliegerbar served as the meeting point for flying enthusiasts, where they exchanged stories and caught up with friends and colleagues. By the end of Sunday, not only had all the food and drinks disappeared, but all lift tickets had also been used up.

Monday was reserved for cleaning and closing up the place. After a heartfelt farewell lunch with our dedicated staff - Romy, Tom, and Bernie - they embarked on their journeys back to their private homes, each planning their unique autumn adventures and winter job prospects. Everyone is eagerly anticipating their return to the Fliegerbar in spring 2024.

Throughout the flying summer of 2023, we experienced some delays in starting the season and faced a few challenging weeks in August. However, September graced us with magnificent weather, making it one of the busiest seasons ever for the Fliegerbar. Our popular Fly & Lunch offer was a top seller, alongside our Flieger Burgers and Flieger-Bratwursts, complemented by Stiegl and Ayinger beer and Radler. The alcohol-free versions of our beverages are gaining popularity as well.

We can't wait to welcome you back in May 2024. Until then, we wish you a wonderful autumn and winter filled with warmth and adventures!

Dear Fliegerbar Friends,

As the Kössen flying season for 2023 draws to a close, we want to express our gratitude for a fantastic flying summer and the lively days spent at the Fliegerbar. We're nearing the end of September, which means that the Fliegerbar, along with our flying school and tandem operations, will be closing for the season.

The past weekend was truly remarkable, with excellent weather enticing flying students to accumulate flights, and tandem passengers relishing the breathtaking views of the Wilde Kaiser and even as far as the Bavarian Chiemsee.
Additionally, many bicycle tourists made a pit stop at the Fliegerbar for some rest, refreshments, and the opportunity to charge their E-bikes.
A delightful surprise "hens party" celebrating a local bride further enlivened the premises on Saturday afternoon, and before we knew it, we had run out of Aperol Spritz, Pinot Grigio, and Fliegerschnaps.

👏Following a couple of rainy days (much-needed for some well-deserved rest), we are gearing up for what may be the last great flying weekend of this season, weather permitting. If you can make it, please join us again—we are fully stocked with food and drinks, as well as fly & lunch tickets.

😀After an excellent flying weekend, we are now happily resting and recharging our energy for more superb flying days at the end of July. Fortunately, we managed to avoid thunderstorms and gale winds as forecasted - only one of the AXA flags at the entrance to the Fliegerbar-Arena was brought down (Thanks to Fritz for the quick repair!).

😀😀On Thursday, our "Fly-Koessen" operations will be in full swing again - with Tom & Romy at the Fliegerbar and Bernie on the AXA Tandem. The Fliegerbar will be freshly stocked, with some tandem slots still available and plenty of "Fly & Lunch" tickets to be collected. We'd like to remind everyone that our "Fly & Lunch" tickets include a choice of meaty or vegetarian food and also cover the "landing fees" at the Fliegerbar-Arena.

😀😀😀Our AXA Insurance Service is becoming increasingly popular among local and international pilots, and we are approaching record numbers. Many thanks to Alex in the AXA back-office for his professional handling of all relevant matters.

👍After a rainy but much-welcomed rest day today, we are gearing up for another fantastic flying weekend ahead. The best thermals are forecasted, so both hobby pilots and beginners should make the most of the quiet morning and evening flights. Fliegerbar will be open from 09:00, offering popular "Fly & Lunch" tickets and day passes (including landing fees), allowing you to catch the first gondola for takeoff at 09:30.

👌Tandem bookings are filling up fast, but there are still some slots available for Saturday and Sunday. To secure your spot, please book via +43-664 3550118 or directly at the Fliegerbar.

👍Fliegerbar will be operating as usual, serving our beloved food and drinks. However, due to current circumstances, we might be the only eatery at the Kössen landing sites temporarily. Therefore, we kindly ask for your patience during peak hours.

😀Another fantastic week has passed in Kössen. Despite the challenging westerly winds, international pilots flocked to the area to enjoy the updrafts and thermals above the Kössen valley.

Our skilled tandem professionals embraced the conditions, providing passengers with exhilarating, albeit occasionally bumpy, rides.
Even advanced flying students took advantage of the relatively calm periods to gain valuable flying experience on their journey toward obtaining their licenses.

The "Fliegerbar" exuded an international ambiance, with a group of Australian, New Zealand, French, Belgian, Dutch, and German pilots gathering together.
👍The "Fly & Lunch" option remained a popular choice, accompanied by Ayinger Weißbier and Stiegel Lager.
👍Tom, our dedicated cook, worked tirelessly to serve up delicious burgers, bangers, steaks, and dim sums, particularly considering the limited food supply in the Kössen flying scene. 👍Romy, our ever-attentive server, ensured that drinks flowed abundantly, endeavoring to reach every table at the Fliegerbar.

😀After an amazing flying weekend in Kössen, we are delighted to announce that Monday will be a well-earned rest day. We have an exciting long weekend ahead with excellent flying conditions forecasted.

😂We would like to inform you that the Fliegerbar – Arena is not affiliated with the new Kössen Testival organization. Therefore, all pilots and air sports enthusiasts are welcome to continue using our facilities as usual.

😁Please note that there will be no landing fees for pilots and tandem passengers under the following conditions:

- Lift tickets are purchased at the Fliegerbar (e.g., "Fly & Lunch").
- You possess a Bergbahn "season card" and are a regular customer of the Fliegerbar.
- You hold a valid AXA insurance policy.
We advise you to arrive early in the morning to secure a parking spot as they will be very limited this weekend.

We have stocked up on food and beverages, and our orchard area right on the landing site is already a popular spot with many Viking stools available. So, get ready for a fantastic weekend in this flying paradise!

😀What a fantastic long flying weekend it was! Hundreds of pilots soared through the Kaiserwinkl airspace, and numerous tandem passengers were delighted by our tandem professionals.

👍Flying students also had a successful time, accumulating numerous flights and finally obtaining their flying licenses.

😀The Fliegerbar experienced large crowds, keeping our staff busy from morning to evening as they served food and drinks. Once again, our "Fly & Lunch" offer was a bestseller, which includes a day pass for the "Kössener Bergbahnen," landing fees in the Fliegerbar-Arena, and a light lunch. Furthermore, our new "smoked trout meal" is becoming increasingly popular.

Due to organizational matters, we need to make a correction to our previous message about the Fly Koessen opening weekend on April 29, 2023.
👍The AXA Fliegerbar-Party with live gigs from Gordon will now take place on Sunday, April 30, from 3:00 pm onwards. The Fliegerbar will be open from April 29 to May 1, weather permitting.
😀Our Fly & Lunch offer will be available every day, as well as AXA insurance updates.

We invite all air sports enthusiasts, our AXA clients, and our local friends to join us in opening the 2023 Kössen flying season.

Fliegerbar Opening 2023 - SAVE the DATE!

We are thrilled to announce the opening of Fly-Kössen's operation for 2023! The season will kick off as early as April 29th and 30th with a full-time opening from May 12th onwards, depending on weather conditions.
Our tandem operations will commence on May 13th, 2023, giving you an opportunity to experience the thrill of flying in tandem.

Back by popular demand, the Fliegerbar "Fly & Lunch" package will also be available this year. It includes a day ticket for the lift, a delicious lunch, and landing fees in our Fliegerbar arena.

Our friendly hosts, Romy & Tom, will be there to serve you with cold drinks and mouth-watering Flieger-Burgers. Sepp will also be present to chat with you about any news in the scene, insurance matters or anything related to Australia.
