THE CAPE EPIC ARRIVES AT GREY RABBIT COTTAGE 🚴‍♂️

We’ve got a little extra excitement at Grey Rabbit Cottage! One of the riders from the Absa Cape Epic has just checked in.

In a town buzzing with bikes, support crews, and spectators, we’re happy to have one of the athletes right here under our roof.

SUURBRAAK | A LITTLE PATCH OF PARADISE ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH

We did — and spent a Saturday morning discovering the tiny village of Suurbraak, a place locals call !Xairu, Khoisan for ‘paradise.’ Horses roam in backyards, cottage gardens steal the show, and quiet streets reveal layers of history and a warm community welcome.

If you’re staying with us at Grey Rabbit Cottage, this little gem makes for a wonderful morning adventure.

FROM THE CEDERBERG TO GREY RABBIT COTTAGE 🫖

TODAY IS NATIONAL ROOIBOS TEA DAY! 🇿🇦

At Grey Rabbit Cottage, we stock LMC flavoured Rooibos teas for our guests to enjoy – a uniquely South African caffeine-free tisane that only grows in the Cederberg mountains.

For our overseas visitors, Rooibos is an introduction to the taste of the Cape’s landscape, culture, and care - steeped in our local heritage.

For our South African visitors, it’s a familiar ritual — rooted in memory, place, and belonging.

As we welcome 2026, we’re filled with gratitude for every guest who chose Grey Rabbit Cottage in 2025 as a spot to slow down, breathe in the Klein Karoo air, and discover the quiet magic of Montagu at your own pace.

We look forward to welcoming both returning guests and new travellers from near and far.

Our little patch in the Klein Karoo promises warm hospitality, breathtaking mountain views, a night sky full of stars, outdoor adventures, an array of coffee shops and restaurants, and easy access to vineyard meandering and wine tastings.

COFFEE, ETC. + A COMPLIMENTARY VIEW OF BLOUPUNT

The writing is on the wall, and the wait is over. Blou Café Deli & Bakery at BluVines District opened its doors today.

This soft opening shows how much they love being part of Montagu's community and how ready they are to welcome us into their space.

Wishing the Blu Vines team all the best on this new phase of their journey.

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY COFFEE SHOPS! ☕️

One of the best things about small-town living is watching local stories unfold around you. And right now, one of those stories is happening over at BluVines District — a favourite spot we recommend to our Grey Rabbit guests.

We’ve been keeping an eye on the renovations with growing excitement as they prepare to open the new Blou Café Deli & Bakery.

And then come those lovely moments that make you feel like you’re part of the story: spotting local artist Christwish Mulunga hand-painting the signage the old-school way. Of course, I had to stop for a quick chat, snap a few photos, and watch him at work.

Can’t wait to enjoy a cappuccino etc, in this beautiful new space and soak up the views of Bloupunt.

A TOUCH OF PRE-WEDDING MAGIC AT GREY RABBIT GARDEN ❤︎

We had some lovely guests check into Grey Rabbit Cottage for a nearby wedding. One of them, a groomsman, asked if the groom could get ready here — and just like that, Grey Rabbit Garden turned into a setting for an impromptu pre-wedding gathering and photo shoot.

📸 Of course, I couldn’t resist sneaking in a few behind-the-scenes snaps while the professionals were doing their thing.

We love being part of special moments like these!
