Since we are on the wine education tip, here’s some information about Malbec.

Known for its plump, dark fruit flavours and smoky finish, Malbec wine offers a great alternative to higher-priced Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. However, there’s more to Malbec than just value.
The thick-skinned grape is a natural cross of two esoteric varieties that are from Montpellier (in Languedoc-Roussilon) and Gaillac in the Sud-Ouest.
In lower elevations, Malbec grapes struggle to produce the acidity they need to create great tasting and long-lasting wine. High elevation areas with a wide diurnal temperature shift (i.e., hot days, cold nights) make the grapes produce more acidity.
Unlike Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec doesn’t have a super long finish. Because of this, Malbec is great with leaner red meats (ostrich fillet anyone?). The wine does extremely well with funky flavours like blue cheese and rustic flavours like mushrooms and cumin spice.

Food to Pair this delicious wine with is steak, pork, and lamb, as well as fattier fish like salmon and poultry with dark meat. Game meat—like bison, ostrich, and venison—is also a safe bet. In addition to meat pairings, consider foods with richer sauces or more vibrant flavours.
