Tonight, the Leadership Mon Class of 2026 celebrated their graduation during the Business After Hours event at the Erickson Alumni Center. A special thank you to the Erickson Alumni Center for sponsoring and hosting this wonderful event.
Thank you as well to the alumni and Morgantown Area Partnership members who came out to support and celebrate this outstanding class.

The Leadership Mon Class of 2026 had its final session of the year today. The day began with a history lesson at Mason-Dixon Historical Park, where we learned how Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon used the stars to survey the land and establish the boundary line in the 1700s, followed by an hour-long hike on the trails.
Next, we visited Mylan Park and the Hope Gas Ice Arena, where we learned about the history, funding, and upcoming projects at Mylan Park, along with a tour of the KOA campground and rental cabins.

Lunch took us to Wiles Hill Community Center and the Eureka Cafe, and the day concluded at the new Marilla Pool.

Thank you to Angela Hinerman, Ron Justice, Frank Witt, and Bree Starsick for the education and hospitality, and to Drew Harding and John Gatling (Class of 2025) for planning such a great day!

Yesterday, members of the Leadership Monongalia Class of 2026 volunteered during United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties Day of Caring as part of their annual service day.

Volunteers helped unload, sort and organize donations for the upcoming Blue and Gold Mine Sale, preparing items for shoppers while supporting fundraising efforts that benefit local causes across our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated and gave back through this meaningful day of service.

The Leadership Mon class had a busy day today! We started the day at Inner Action Media where Shayla led an engaging discussion on how community storytelling plays a key role in any strong marketing strategy, and why the stories we share truly matter for connection and impact.
Then we made our way out to the City of Morgantown garage where they make all of the street signs. We all got to make one with our last name on it! After that we went to White Park where we learned that in the late 1800’s the park land was used as part of historically significant oil industry operations. At its height, the land stored more than two million barrels of oil in nearly 80 tanks. Then we headed to WVRC Media. After an amazing lunch courtesy of Smokin J’s we heard Hoppy Kerchavel and Dave Wilson speak on the issues of fake news and AI and how to differentiate them in today’s world. After touring the WV Metronews studio, we heard from Morgantown Deputy Mayor Brian Butcher, House of Delagates Representative John Williams and the Vice President of the Morgantown Area Partnership Erik Carlson. We ended the day at the Greer Building touring the WVRC Media studios of WVAQ & WKKW. What a fun and educational day!
