Fellow Co-conspirators,
David here. I wanted to take a minute to thank all of you who visited us since our inception, and also those who came out to the dances I previously hosted strictly as CitySwing DC. I especially want to thank everyone who helped me run the dances, particularly Anna Ruth, Kelcie Elizabeth, Cella Mahoney, Sidney Katherine, and Jess Conway (who we all miss), as well as Michelle Ariel for putting up with me, and Ton Ly for bringing really great pie every dance. I'd also like to thank Terry and Luca from DanceSport DuPont Circle for offering up the space for all of our dances.
The intent of Lindy Rebels was to provide a place for friends from different circles to come together, meet new people, dance to some music that was different from the norm, relax, and just have fun. I am proud that we were able to accomplish all of that and more over the past four years of putting on music!
That said, it is often hard to know when to close the book on a particular chapter, but we have reached that conclusion. Life has a way of getting in the way of things, and that's the case with Lindy Rebels. Simply put, after everything that's happened this year, I need to step back, take a break, and breathe.
Our 2-in-1 dance on September 27th will officially be the last stand for Lindy Rebels DC as a regular event. We may coordinate with some of the other local groups for some fun stuff down the road, and you may see me DJing some future band breaks at Glen Echo, but we don't have any plans at this time.
Thanks again for everything! In the words of the immortal movie Swing Kids, "Swing, heil!"
