“ I was travelling from Aflao to Accra but when I got to Sogakope, I was stopped at a checkpoint by a group of Ghana police team who accused me of not using my seatbelt.

I begged her to please let me go that it won’t happen again but she refused. She said she is going to seize my drivers licence and impound the car to their office.

But after much plea for hours (over 3 hrs), she decided to collect Ghc 300 last from me and which was the money I had budgeted for my fuel and other expenses.

I gave her the money SADLY and went my way.
I was about entering Tema motorway when a phone rang beside me, and i was surprised to see Apple’s Iphone 12 pro max on my passenger seat.
I picked the call only to discover that the Police officer forgot her phone in my car.

Now she's begging me to return the phone to her.
If you were to be in my shoes what will you do???

*Well, we were far more productive in 1980 than we are today.*

*In 1980 the key reasons for economic growth were as follows:*

*1. We were a net exporter of refined petroleum products. Today we import all our refined petroleum products.*

*2. We rode in locally assembled cars, buses and trucks. Peugeot cars in Kaduna and Volkswagen cars in Lagos.*

*3. Leyland produced trucks/buses in Ibadan and ANAMCO in Enugu also produced buses and trucks.*

*4. Steyr in Bauchi produced our Agricultural tractors. And it was not just Assembly, we were producing many of the components:*

*5. Vono products in Lagos produced the vehicle seats.*

*6. Exide in Ibadan produced the batteries, not just for Nigeria but for the entire West Africa.*

*7. IsoGlass and TSG in Ibadan produced the windshields.*

*8. Ferrodo in Ibadan produced the brake pads and discs*

*9. Dunlop produced Tyres in Lagos and Michelin Tyres were produced in Port Harcourt. And I mean tyres produced from rubber plantations located in Ogun, Bendel and Rivers State.*

*10. We were listening to Radio and watching television sets assembled in Ibadan by Sanyo.*

*11. We were using refrigerators, freezers and Airconditioners produced by Thermocool and Debo.*

*12. We were putting on clothes produced from the UNTL Textile Mills in Kaduna and Chellarams in Lagos. They were Not from imported cotton but from cotton grown in Nigeria.*

*13. Our water was running through pipes produced by Kwalipipe in Kano and Duraplast in Lagos .*

*14. Our toilets were fitted with WC produced in Kano and Abeokuta.*

*15 We were cooking with LPG gas stored inside gas cylinders produced at the NGC factory in Ibadan.*

*16. Our electricity was flowing through cables produced by the Nigerian Wire and Cable, Ibadan; NOCACO in Kaduna and Kablemetal in Lagos and Port Harcourt.*

*17. We had Bata and Lennards Stores producing the shoes we were putting on. The shoes were not from imported leather but from locally tanned leather in Kaduna*.

*18. We were mainly flying our Airways, (the Nigeria Airways), to most places in the world. The Nigeria Airways was about the biggest in Africa at the time*.

*19. Most of the foods we ate were grown or produced in Nigeria*.

*We were producing all of the above and many more in 1980*

*Today, we import almost everything. Isn't that alarming?*

*There lies the source of the terrible exchange rate we are experiencing today and everyone reading this has a critical role to play in reversing this very UGLY trend.*

*It is not enough for us to complain about the exchange rate or point out what others are not doing or are failing to do. The key questions are:*

*1. What are we producing now?*
*2. What role are our so- called Leaders/ Politicians of today playing?*

*We are forever shying away from responsibility whereas it is a stack reality and if we don't deal with it, it won't go away. In fact it will get worse*.

*To our dear Politicians, if you don't have the capacity to RESET Nigeria to what it was at least back in 1980 then please stay in your house and don't waste our time.*

I was in the bus going to Osodi from Sango when this old woman entered.

As she was coming in, she specifically told the bus conductor that he should let her know when we get to Iyana ipaja.

As the bus started moving, the woman repeated her request and the conductor quickly related it to the driver.

Immediately we got to the next bustop, the woman asked if we had gotten to Iyana Ipaja and the conductor said no and reminded the driver again of the old woman's request.

The driver.got irri.tated and sho.uted that he had heard na.

As we moved on, one passengers phone started ringing and she began screa.ming on the phone.

" How can my husband be in a hotel?? I'm on my way!"

Everyone wanted to know what was up and she didn't disappoint us.

Immediately she dropped the call, she started gisting us on how ran.dy her husband was.

How he had the ability to sleep with anything called female. She swore that if she had a girl child, he would have probably sle.pt with her.

Everyone listened in rapt attention and had different advices to give her.

Even the driver advised that she use con.dom anytime she had relations with him.

Half of the women in the bus said she should be earning her own money and leave him.

Other men adviced her to be prayerful and that all men che.at.

All this happened in the traffic and on the free way.

As we were all gisting, the old woman in the bus, Mama jolted us back to reality.

"Are we now at Iyana Ipaja?"She asked and everyone looked out.

Ha! We were at airport bustop!

The old woman wasn't happy.

We, the passengers started blaming the driver and conductor.

The driver was apologetic.

He wanted his conductor to put the old woman to another bus going to Iyana Ipaja and pay for it.

I personally was madt.

I insisted that the driver turn and take her back to Iyana Ipaja.

Not everyone agreed but I insisted.

I told him to imagine it was his own mum.

Would he be happy if she got lost in Lagos???

The driver succumbed and turned the bus.

The woman with the cheating husband alighted. She had to go home quick and we all laughed.

We encountered heavy traffic but then no one could complain.

We all blamed ourselves silently.

At last, we got to Iyana Ipaja.

Immediately we all told the mama we had gotten to Iyana Ipaja, she started screa.ming.
"Pure water! pure water!!!!"

Everyone wondered why she didn't try to get up.

She bought pure water from the vendor on her window and opened her purse.

"Mama, we are Iyana Ipaja oo" the conductor repeated.

"Okay". she said and brought out her medicine.

"My daughter told me that I should take this medicine when we get to Iyana Ipaja."

"Are you not coming down here?" The conductor asked

"Nooo . I am still going to Osodi.
Na melecine, I wan take here"
