What happens when 200 global engineers and tech leaders step out of a conference room… and into a Vietnamese countryside story for their corporate event under an open sky?

Not a glamorous yet lifeless conference hall.
No stiff seating charts.
No grand stage. No pounding music.

This was one of the grandest menus in European culinary history: a 120-dish, nine-course banquet by Marie-Antoine Carême – “the King of Chefs and Chef of Kings,” the founding father of French haute cuisine.

He prepared it for the Prince Regent of England (later King George IV) and Grand Duke Nicholas of Russia (later Tsar Nicholas I).
Held on 18 January 1817 at the opulent Indo-Chinese–styled Royal Pavilion in Brighton, the banquet was more than a meal – it was a diplomatic performance. Carême turned the table into a stage where gastronomy, art, and politics converged, sealing Anglo-Russian ties after the Napoleonic Wars.

The menu followed service à la française (multiple dishes displayed at once) rather than the later service à la russe (sequential courses).

A family we will never forget.
A husband planning in silence for almost a month.
A secret dinner for four, marking 15 years of marriage.
A candlelit private dining room. Balloons swaying to soft music.
The wife’s surprise… but my eyes were on someone else.

Their young daughter - bright, beautiful, living with a condition that shapes her every day.

Not knowing the menu, or even the location, until led through hidden alleyways to a wooden door, closed to the world.
Inside, a table set just for two.
A bottle of wine chose by the host, but somehow felt just right.
