Hello community composters! We have had a year of transition and changes, and have taken a break from the community gardens over the summer.

I still believe this community is important and that sharing time and knowledge in the gardens is valuable for the health of our people and the planet.

I want to gauge some interest with a poll if any locals in Ventura are interested in attending or participating in garden volunteer days and/or crop swap events for the future?

Comment below your thoughts and which day of the week you prefer!

Happy early spring! This is the time of year we start to notice all the nettle patches around the garden and beyond. Nettles are an excellent wild food to forage and they are loaded with nutrients.

You’re invited to join community to harvest stinging nettle at the downtown Ventura community garden SATURDAY MARCH 29th from 9-11am.

PLEASE BRING:
1) Gloves and clippers (or scissors) 🧤 ✂️
2) Wear long sleeves, pants, and close toed shoes.
3) A reusable cup to enjoy some nettle infused tea.

We will have community members to share knowledge and resources to take home along with your fresh spring harvest!

Next Crop swap and community garden volunteer day is SATURDAY APRIL 5th, from 9-12. We will be planting more fruit trees, composting, and swapping seeds and crops!

Community garden volunteer days! This summer we are hosting several dates for the public to join and help with garden projects. Save the date!

(Slide 1) The downtown Ventura community orchard will be hosting a multi-event on the days listed for that site: Garden projects, Crop Swap, and Seed Swap!

(Slide 2) the downtown Ojai garden will be hosting volunteer days 2 Wednesdays and 2 Saturdays per month, let’s growww!

We will send out more dates for the Cornucopia Gardens, we are just waiting to confirm with our community partners.

Looking for some garden volunteer opportunities?!

We will be hosting a garden volunteer day in downtown Ventura Sunday, March 12th from 9-12pm.

This event is open to all ages. No experience necessary!

If you are a community compost co-op member, this is a great event to keep your membership active!

We will be removing unwanted plants, spreading mulch, checking the compost pile, and sharing stories…mostly we will be having fun connecting with community. See you there!
