Happy Capital City Pride weekend, y'all. 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ We're wishing you a safe and happy weekend of celebration, reflection, and joyful protest. If you have some time in your schedule and you're looking for some air-conditioned fun and community, we're right down the road (a short 15-minute walk at an average LGBTQ+ pace)!

As a q***r-owned business, we're – as we like to say – q***r all year. This flag doesn't come down the other 11 months, nor does the Trans Lives Matter poster at our front door. We're proud to be a part of this incredibly supportive community. Celebrate safely, and we'll see you in here soon! 💜

THANK YOU, TREASURE QUEST ADVENTURERS! We've crunched the numbers on Treasure Quest 2026 – our free, annual, city-wide scavenger hunt – and they are IMPRESSIVE! More than 300 adventurers took up the call to search for 10 Artifacts hidden around the Des Moines metro over two days. They completed more than 900 check-ins and activities, earning north of 33,000 total points. At least 80 participants checked into all 10 locations, ascending to the rank of Advanced Adventurer. Amazing! Thank you all for making this fifth annual Treasure Quest the best yet.

Congratulations to our top three adventuring teams, Team Max, Team Owen, and Team Amanda. They're all walking away with a fitting prize pack. All other teams that completed at least one check-in and earned the rank of Amateur Archeologist will receive a reward as well.

A massive thanks also goes out to this year's wonderful Treasure Quest sponsors and partners. We could not have done this without you. Happy Bedbug Awareness Week! No – while important – it's not something we're particularly passionate about here at the Rook Room, but it IS a clue to one of our rounds of Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz Trivia tonight. Exciting, right?

GWD Trivia Night happens tonight and every Monday night from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's a ton of can't-miss trivia action crammed into two hours, so grab your brainiest friends and come on down. FREE to join in and play on top of FREE entry on Mondays. Banish your boring (and extremely sweltering) Mondays with the Rook Room Game Lounge and Cafe, where fun is always on the table!

♟️ Social Chess Club – Saturday. Join our growing group of for-fun chess players who gather once a month for some friendly rivalry.

🏳️‍🌈 Capital City Pride Weekend – All Weekend. Stop by the fully-q***r-owned Rook Room on your way to or from Pride festivities to cool off, enjoy a Pride special, and some gay games!

We know y'all love Hues and Cues and boop. So stop by tonight and meet the man behind both, Scott Brady! The creator of everyone's favorite too-cute cat game and the greatest color-matching party game will be at the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe as the featured guest at our CATS! event.

Happy June and happy Pride Month! Celebrate both tonight at Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz Trivia Night at the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe. It's free to play, and you can play right from your phone (while playing a board game, even). It kicks off right at 7 PM, and we do our best to wrap by 9 PM. So banish your usual boring Monday night and come hang with us.

And, yes, since it is the start of Pride Month, there maaaaaay be a round related to that. Just sayin'. In case you wanna come ready. 🤷
