Had the pleasure of attending the 57th Annual Hero Awards Banquet sponsored by Safety Council of Northwest Ohio. The organization recognizes those who have gone above and beyond to render aid to someone in need of emergency assistance - and in some instances risking their own lives!

Congratulations to my good friends Maurice Morris and Cheryl (Mark) Herr on both being recognized for their heroic efforts. Also congratulations to a fantastic young man and his parents who helped save a drowning child’s life - Joey Eidi.

Another special moment to see our experience a trip of their lifetime. I had the pleasure of again volunteering for the Flag City Honor Flight departure this morning at Toledo Express Airport. The organization flew 76 veterans - Mission #35 to Washington D.C. to visit war memorials built in their honor!

As a person who lived in the Old West End during my early childhood days, I am deeply saddened by the gun violence yesterday at the festival.

First, I want to send strength and support to those injured and their families. Also, I want to express gratitude to the Toledo Police Officers who rendered emergency tourniquet aid and all first responders who showed devotion to duty and compassion in responding to this senseless act.

Perfect evening to participate in the Genoa Homecoming Parade….. Unlike many Ohio festivals that take place in a park or fairgrounds, Genoa Homecoming is woven into the historic downtown. Fun fact: the city has a strong tradition of former residents who plan trips back to Genoa specifically for Homecoming weekend, making it as much a hometown reunion as a festival—hence the name "Homecoming."

Of course I had to sample the funnel cake!

Thank you Ottawa County Democratic Party - Ohio for the invitation to swear in members of the central/executive committee. It was great to see everyone yesterday!

As an added bonus, I also got the privilege of swearing in members of the Sandusky County Democratic Party central committee yesterday as well. The room was packed!

Congratulations to everyone! I was so excited to see the growing number of activated members of the community in both and counties who are organizing and using that energy to mobilize voters in November 2026 and beyond.

I am especially proud to announce I have been endorsed by UAW Region 2B CAP and Toledo Area UAW CAP Council. A big thank you to all the hard working men and women of UAW, David Green, Raye Ohl, Brian Sims and Tony Totty for all you do to support workers here in Northwest Ohio.

To top things off, I had a fantastic time yesterday attending the UAW Region 2B Toledo Labor Reception for Dr. Amy Acton. It was great to see the excitement and energy in the room!
