Good Morning My Friends!
My introduction for N.John Doty Art is long overdue so please bare with me if you will.
First off, I wish to thank all of you fine folks for your interest in my page. While I have not posted in some time I have been a busy bee these last few months and over all during the past 3 years by creating artworks that at times represent a bit of my heritage, a personal vision of our natural world and as well, pieces that honor the history of New England, as well as the U.S. and the world in a wider sense.
Where many of my works have been giving as gifts to my immediate family and a handful of close friends, I have also had the privilege to create a couple of commisioned pieces for patrons whom had requested my services. To those kind people, I say thank you very much for your faith in my budding artistic ambitions.
Tonight's piece of art represents two of my aforementioned subjects of interest...
Showcasing a rural New England scene, as well as to pay homage to the area's old Yankee farming traditions and the work seen at present is the first in a series which I have entitled ~Postcards Of New England ~
I sought to somewhat mimic the old art form of woodcut pictures that were prevalent in early America, yet at the same instance adding in a vibrant color scheme which was often not present in most of those wonderful works of yesteryear.
However, I still strived to emulate an 18th Century vibe in my vision.
I call this piece 'A Taconic's Sunset, Out Over An Olde Berkshire Farm... Every October; Any Year"
Inspired by a bucolic scene along Route 7 up in Sheffield, Massachusetts... The Taconic Mountains, Georgian Farmhouse, Red Barn, Autumn Trees and other accents are etched in wood burn, then painted in acrylics.
Enclosed are a few pictures which showcase the detail in my work and also a slight view into the intial process which contributed to my finished production.
Again, I thank you for your interest and I welcome any comments or questions that you might have about what I have presented.
