Many of you have heard that I am not doing the Home Opener event anymore and I’m sure many of you have questions about this. I will simply say that this year I was not able to reach an agreement with the organization on the cost and additional requirements to obtain bulk tickets, in a manner that would allow me to break even or generate revenue for a charity. You know I have enjoyed hosting this event for 21 years and not having a year 22 is heart breaking. The event itself has been a blast, and a tremendous amount of work for all of those involved in making it happen. The added benefit of being able to help children over the years in the different charities we worked with has made the hard work so fulfilling.
That said, I will be at the home opener with friends, tailgating in the parking lot somewhere, with a radio playing and a grill going. I encourage you to get your own tickets, bring your own food and grill and come join us if you’d like. I’d be happy to connect with each of you the day of to locate us. Simply reply with your number if you’re interested and I’ll see you on Greater Kansas City Day.
Also, you’ll find me and my friends in our seats at the very front row of section 248 for most games. Hope to see you out there supporting the boys in blue, after all it really is and should always be about baseball, not the money.
Thank you for all the great years and memories,
Phil
