We are so excited to have Carrie Ann back on the mic on Sept. 19th as our WestFest 19 emcee! From introducing performers to sharing festival updates, Carrie Ann will be there to keep the energy high and the good times rolling! 🎤

Outside of being an incredible addition to The Westerleigh Folk Festival team, Carrie Ann is also the founder of Shagara, an arts and culture platform that produces inclusive events, exhibitions, and programs that connect artists, organizations, and communities. Meet one of our incredible WestFest volunteers, MaryAnn Talamo! MaryAnn is a talented artist who has been serving as our lead face painter at The Westerleigh Folk Festival for the past few years! 🎨

MaryAnn is also an award-winning, nationally recognized photographic artist and educator and the owner of Creative Campus & Custom Digital Images, a Staten Island art and photography studio. She offers hands-on art classes and creative workshops for children and adults, fine-art and photography instruction, face painting, guided crafts for parties and community events, and select portrait sessions—all in a welcoming space designed to encourage creativity and confidence. If you are interested in learning more, you can stop by her booth in our activities area.

MaryAnn will be volunteering at our face painting table again on Sept. 19th, so be sure to stop by for one of her incredible designs! 👩‍🎨

Meet our WestFest 19 children's performer, Tina Kenny Jones! 👦🏽👧🏼👦🏻

Tina Kenny Jones is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, educator, and a mom of 4-year-old twins. With her band Tina and the Balance, you'll hear her sing, play bass, and ukulele on her original songs. Tina also regularly records and performs children's music and is featured prominently in the music of Grammy Award-Winning Kindie Artist Danny Weinkauf. You can hear her singing background vocals on the 2020 Grammy Winning Children's Album "All The Ladies" by Joanie Leeds. Whether it's a rock gig, a classical concert, or a children’s show, Tina brings her passion for music every time she performs.

✨ She will be kicking off the festival from our secondary stage on Sept 19th at 11am in Westerleigh Park! ✨

WestFest 19 Performer Feature: The Laura The Melissa 🎤

The Laura The Melissa is a duo comprised of Staten Island sisters, Laura and Melissa Casertano. Having grown up singing in choirs and musicals, both went on to pursue music degrees. Together, they have performed original music throughout the borough and have been part of projects for local theatre companies such as Women's Playwright Collective and Ghostlight Players. In recent years, they both appeared as soloists in Beatles Blast at The St. George Theatre. Their sound combines influences of pop, rock, folk, and musical theater styles, along with lots of dissonance and harmony!

WestFest 19 Performer Feature: Ronit 🎶

Ronit is an Australian musician and artist living in NYC. Her genuine passion is connecting with others through music and multilingual lyricism. What she feels and her life experiences are apparent in her songwriting. Her teenage years busking barefoot on the sunny streets of her hometown in Melbourne led her to touring as a support act for well known Australian artists and as a touring backing vocalist in a renowned Australian band 'The Red Eyes'. Before relocating to NYC, she graced audiences at UK's Glastonbury Festival. Since then, life in NY has inspired a new sound and array of songs. Ronit’s band, The Invisible Strings, is based in NYC and is comprised of good friends finding common ground on the likes of records from days far-gone and vintage gear and instruments.

WestFest 19 Performer Feature: Brother Dynamite 🎼

Indie Rock duo Brother Dynamite, is Shawn Moynihan and Alan Miller. The New York City-based duo have been playing music and writing songs together since high school. Known for their highly melodic style and extensive use of vocal harmonies, the duo have garnered listeners in more than 100 countries and achieved worldwide airplay. In 2022, the duo released their full-length, original album, "If We Dare”. In the years since, they have released many additional singles, all of which have been very well-received. Brother Dynamite perform live as an acoustic duo and can regularly be seen playing at venues around the New York City area.
