We began as serious hobbyists in our Park St. residence in the mid 1990’s. As a young child, Larry’s family made wines for family and friends, going back many generations. In 1998, we relocated to a larger space (instead of my kitchen), offered to us by the kindness of a neighbor and close friend across the street, Oralee Faggart. The building, originally “Faggart’s Meat House”, was not being used
and had many rooms, some of which were temperature-controlled coolers. We spent about one year at that location, and found we had outgrown that facility also! Again, we relocated to a larger building on highway 29 in Spencer, N.C. We spent two years in Spencer, producing our quality, all natural wines, but we were unable to grow our own grapes at this site. In 2000 we started looking for a bigger site to accommodate our growing business, one that would also allow us to grow our own fruit. It was then that we found and bought our current property nestled in the mountains of Sparta, N.C. We built our new facility here to house our winery that offers a tasting bar, gift shop, wine cellar, hobbyist corner, and a cozy front deck and rear porch for relaxing, rocking, and of course, wine drinking. We also renovated the property’s 1860 farmhouse into our home and Chateau Laurinda’s Bed & Breakfast, known as the Laurinda House. We have experimented with a variety of different grapevines to see what would survive in the mountains. We set out to make unique and unusual wines not found anywhere else. Our NC wines are all natural, made from fresh fruit (no concentrates or artificial colorings) and are chemical free, most other wineries cannot state the same truthfully. If you’re looking for a “down home”, cozy, and friendly winery, then come on over and check us out! Let us provide you with the ultimate vineyard experience. If your closer to Boone Mall, stop by our Tasting Booth (open on weekends). We look forward to serving all of your wine needs!
