What a spooktacular Saturday night! 👻🎶

American Legion Post 370 came alive with line-dance lessons, live country music, Halloween fun, and a wonderful crowd of dancers and music lovers!

From the first lesson until the final song, the room was filled with energy, laughter, friendship, and plenty of dancing. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our October Third Saturday celebration such an enjoyable evening! ❤️

👢 FOUR LINE-DANCE LESSONS WITH SHAWN

At 6:00 PM, Shawn welcomed everyone onto the floor for a busy hour featuring four dances.

Three selections were chosen to match songs Melissa & Company would perform later that evening. The fourth brought a playful Halloween tradition back to the dance floor!

Learning the choreography before the band began gave everyone time to practice the steps, build confidence, and prepare to enjoy several of the dances again with live music. 🎸👏

1️⃣ Happy Step ❤️🎶

🎵 Danced to: Don’t Be Cruel

Happy Step opened the lesson hour with familiar music, enjoyable choreography, and plenty of feel-good energy.

Shawn guided everyone through the steps before the class danced the complete routine to this classic favorite. It was a terrific way to warm up and begin the evening!

2️⃣ Canadian Stomp 🇨🇦👢

🎵 Danced to: These Boots Are Made for Walkin’

Canadian Stomp brought plenty of stomping, country attitude, and familiar music to the floor!

Shawn reviewed the choreography and helped everyone work through the footwork, timing, and direction changes before putting everything together with the song.

3️⃣ K Is for Kicks 🛣️🎶

K Is for Kicks gave everyone another fun routine to enjoy with the live band later in the evening.

For an extra touch of Halloween spirit, we also danced it to Skeleton Sam! The alternate music gave the choreography a playful seasonal twist and added even more Halloween fun to the lesson hour. 💀👻

They’re creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky—and always fun to dance! 🎃👻

The Addams Family has become one of our favorite October traditions. Its different sections, playful movements, shoulder shimmies, and finger snaps gave everyone a chance to show some personality and get into the Halloween spirit!

The dancers did a terrific job learning and reviewing four dances during a very busy lesson hour. By the time the band was ready to begin, everyone had already enjoyed a great workout filled with stomping, turning, learning, laughing, and plenty of movement! 💦👢😄

🎤 MELISSA & COMPANY TOOK THE STAGE

At 7:00 PM, Melissa & Company filled the room with a terrific variety of classic country favorites, oldies, and danceable music.

The floor stayed busy as couples Two-Stepped, Pattern Partner dancers traveled around the room, and line dancers joined in whenever they recognized a favorite song.

It was wonderful watching so many different styles of dancing share the floor throughout the evening! 🤠💃🕺

When the band performed Don’t Be Cruel, These Boots Are Made for Walkin’, and Get Your Kicks on Route 66, our dancers were ready!

There is something especially exciting about practicing a dance during the lesson and then enjoying it again later that same evening with live music. 🎸🎶❤️

🔥 THE DANCING CONTINUED DURING THE BAND’S BREAK

When Melissa & Company took a break, our dancers did not!

Shawn kept the floor moving with reviews of the evening’s lessons and several familiar favorites played to their original music.

The break gave everyone another opportunity to practice the choreography, refresh their memories, build confidence, and enjoy even more time on the dance floor. The energy stayed high, and the floor remained busy until Melissa & Company returned to the stage! 💃🕺🔥

👢 A FRIENDLY DANCE-FLOOR REMINDER

The dance floor at American Legion Post 370 is limited in size, especially when we have a large crowd and several different styles of dancing happening at the same time.

Line dancers and other stationary dancers should remain near the center of the floor. Pattern Partner dancers, Two-Step couples, and others traveling around the floor should use the outside perimeter and avoid cutting through the center.

We ask all dancers to watch the people around them, follow the flow of traffic, and make every effort to avoid running into line dancers or other couples. Good floor awareness and a little courtesy allow everyone to dance safely and comfortably—no matter which style of dancing they enjoy. ❤️🤠
