What is the BBT?
-A tradition started at the turn of the second millennium by former UW oceanography grad students.
-A ~20 mile leisurely bicycling adventure around Seattle.
-A tour of 6 of the best breweries in Seattle.
-Open to all current and former oceanography grad students, post-docs, and friends.
-An annual opportunity to get your hands on a stylish commemorative BBT sticker.
-A great
way to meet new friends and catch up with old ones! If you don't drink at all, it's still a great excuse for a bike ride, there's always good food along the way, and it's a lot of fun just to hang out with folks. If you're not a skilled bicyclist:
No problem! The one big hill is at the beginning of the ride and we go at a very leisurely pace so that everyone can stay together. Also, for the majority of the ride we will be on bike trails like the Burke-Gilman, so we won't be riding through much traffic. The only strict rules. 1) Wear your helmet at all times while riding. 2) If you fall off your bike, you must also wear your helmet in the bars! A recent history of BBT routes:
