The last few months have been weird with omicron and whatnot, on top of the post-reboot months being awkward with covid concerns/restrictions, the digital answer system, etc. I miss your sexy faces. Whether we last saw each other two years ago or a few weeks ago across the bar, I love you, I hope you're well, and I can't wait until we can actually sit and have a worry free beer again. Hi friends! It was so wonderful getting to see so many of you on Tuesday. We're back every week, and I'm excited to share that Buckley's has already committed to our return with the biggest prizes of any Geeks Who Drink quiz, anywhere*. Starting next Tuesday we'll be awarding:

Hi friends! Sharing a quick non-update update in light of recent developments.

First off: I hope you and your loved ones are well. This has been a wild few months, and one of the things I've missed most in isolation is having regular opportunities to check in with all of you. I hope you're keeping healthy, safe, and busy!

As for what's going on with Geeks Who Drink: While bars and restaurants (including Buckley's!) have started to re-open, GWD is continuing to monitor the situation nationally and work on a game plan to return to live, in-person quizzes as soon as it's safe and responsible to do so. Some state and local governments still have outright bans on pub quiz, while others continue to regulate live entertainment in bars and restaurants. That's on top of occupancy and party size restrictions like we have here in Seattle.

The latest I've heard is that 7/31 is the absolute earliest we think there might be a safe path to resuming our national operations at scale. That feels like a lifetime away, and what happens between now and then will probably shift that target, but it's something to pencil in and hope for. Until then, keep doing your part to keep yourself and those around you safe and healthy. There are lots of virtual GWD quiz options that you can check out at Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes, and Buckley's In Belltown is back open for dine-in service!

Hey friends - I hope you've already connected the dots, but with the governor's order shutting down bars and restaurants to fight the spread of COVID-19, there will be no quiz tonight or for the foreseeable future.

To complicate matters further, as a company whose income relies 100% on an industry that pretty much just went p**f overnight, Geeks Who Drink has ceased operations and laid off all personnel. None of us know what this means for us as a quiz company long-term, but rest assured that all of us are hoping beyond hope that there will be something for us to return to once this wild and crazy emergency has passed. It might not be immediate. It might not look and feel exactly the same. But the most talented and dedicated damn people in the world want to be back at this as soon as public health and the financial health of the bar & restaurant industry allow.

In the meantime, if you don't already follow the official Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes page, that's going to be the best way to get updates on what's happening as we navigate this. We even have a small team working pro bono on a way to create and deliver you live-streamed quiz content while everyone is stuck at home!

Please know that I'm fine - this was a hobby gig for me, and my primary career & income are (for now) business as usual. If you have a way to get in touch with our friends from Buckley's In Belltown, please share your love and support in their direction.
