Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Care fellow drinkers!
Updating can be hard! If anything, I find myself at odds with my priorities and desires. The desire to update you all, and the priorities of building our foundations. The Barn is at present looking for a solid location to brew from. The outdoor space we have been using, has given us great inspiration and direction for our art. At present, we desire to be bigger (7 barrel brew structure/fementers, facility) and the quest of where we make that is the struggle. The Pay Area is incorrigible. Demands for high leases and costs of doing business doesn't sit well for our mission. What we need is country and a Barn.
Scarlet Barn in the next coming months, will be kicking of the first of three "Barn-raisers" with the specific purpose of legitimizing our commercial efforts, establishing our placement and purpose and finally securing our position as a community center and leading others in community cohesion. The inspiration of the barn-raising comes from the Amish/Mennonite sects of our country, where the community would come together to assist in raising a barn for one of their own in the community. It is a beautiful concept of camaraderie and efforts of the many for the solution.
With your help (and any others you could imagine!), Scarlet Barn can become a new type of company. A company where it is built by the people, for the enjoyment of the people. Stay tuned, there will be more to report.
In addition to this, our reputation has begun to precede us for the better! We have already poured at two events, yet the ability to do more is hampered temporarily until licensing is approved. Our Heathenweizen made the finals at the Oaktoberfest Homebrew competition, we'll get it next year! Two other new styles emerged, one gose and a rauchbier. Finishing this summer season with a return of a summertime favorite, Peach Wheat Ale and its seasonal complement, Pumpkin Wheat Ale. An experimental American amber ale is in the works for Linda's art show in November, Frida's Dream. Dedicated to painter Frida Kahlo, it is a blend of agave and corn with German malts and hops, seasoned with glorious bursts of orange essence. Along with these, we have Perdurabo and Barn 156 to complete as well, so it will be a busy schedule for production, yet sales are required which requires licensing.
We have more beer to make, little space to make it and desire to get it done. We know its possible, with the help of beer drinkers everywhere. We thank you in advance.
Love is the law, love under will.
