Curious 🧐 about how climate change impacts the wine industry? Well, those supply delays you may have been noticing are a result of various factors, including 💧rainfall and drought caused by global climate shifts. The Panama Canal, a key path for cargo🚢 ships heading to the west coast, faced its driest October since 1950, with a 41% reduction in rainfall. This directly affects the water levels at Lake Gatun, which not only feeds the canal but also serves as the primary water source for half of 🇵🇦 Panama. Additionally, there are updates regarding the Neo-Panamax draft restriction, limited vessel transits, and weight limits on shipments. However, despite these changes, routing through the Panama Canal remains the fastest option for cargo traveling from Asia to the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast. So, if you're eagerly awaiting the arrival of your favorite Beaujolais Nouveau at your local wine shop, just hang in there and be patien… it's coming! 💃🏻
