Sitting in a waiting room in Rockville, MD, emotional and thankful for all the opportunities, blessings and people that have come into our lives over the last couple of years. Because of it, today I was able to drive my Dad to his first pre-op meeting with his surgeon in Rockville. He will be going forward with "Deep Brain Stimulation" surgery for his Parkinson's Disease. This surgery will help him control his tremors in his hands. The surgery has been proven successful and his surgeon is well known throughout the country for this specific surgery and treatment. My Dad is eager and ready to have it done. He has 2 more surgeries over the next 2 weeks that are the real deal. Everyday things like writing with a pen, typing an email on his computer, eating food and even shuffling through paper and real estate contracts are a challenge for him. Such small things to us that we usually take for granted on an everyday basis, but for him and people who live with Parkinson's this is a daily up hill battle. He is one of the strongest men I know, and through all of this has never complained. Yes it's frustrating and hard but he keeps going and overcomes. I have watched him everyday deal and overcome these challenges. I've admired his will and determination to not let the disease win. After this surgery he will hopefully have most of his tremors controlled. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. I know he appreciates the strength and the push to keep going. This man is a fighter and I'm proud to call him my Dad and be here today to help. The best is yet to come...
