Coalition Against Project 2025 Project 2025 isn’t a theory — it’s a plan. Our coalition exists to stop it: educate, organize, activate. Connect people. Protect rights.

Save lives.

A father was shot & killed by ICE on his way to work yesterday in America.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo lived here nearly 35 years, raised three American citizens, and was in the process of obtaining legal work authorization. Killing people is not how you implement immigration policy.

If you respect the Constitution in any way, this should be shocking to you. One of the great things about America is that whether you are a citizen, an immigrant, or a visitor, you have certain constitutional rights based on basic human decency.

The current administration is not abiding by the Constitution. And regardless of which way you lean politically, immigrants are the American ideal because we are a nation of immigrants. We always will be.

Historians who study fascism for a living — the people who've dedicated their lives to this work— are increasingly telling us this is fascism, or close to it. If you think this is okay & that you won't be affected, you should probably read up on what happens in these kinds of scenarios. Because the folks who think they're not involved, lose their rights too, & a lot of them lose everything.

An ICE officer fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston during an immigration enforcement operation. DHS claims he ignored commands and attempted to ram an agent, but his family says Lorenzo was a hardworking construction worker who was on his way to work and picking up his workers when he was killed.

His son said Lorenzo had lived in the U.S. for almost 35 years and was in the process of getting a work permit. “My father did not deserve this,” he wrote.

🚨 Lorenzo’s death marks at least the eighth death from an encounter with federal immigration officials since Trump’s intensified deportation campaign began. This is a deadly pattern from a broken agency operating with little transparency, no oversight, and no accountability under current DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

Every video, every communication, and every piece of evidence must be preserved, reviewed, and released. We stand with Lorenzo’s family, Houston leaders, and immigrant rights groups demanding an independent investigation, full transparency, and justice.

Justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. ⚖️

Breaking News: Our banner is more famous than we are. 😜🇺🇸🫶🏼✌🏼

Today was epic. Period.

Today, our community came together for an amazing community art project — a human banner commemorating 250 years of America. It rightfully included art installations confronting what’s happening with ICE detention camps in our country right now, because the fight for freedom from tyranny didn’t end in 1776, and it isn’t over today. We brought grief and urgency into the same space as joy and resistance.

We’d like to thank everyone who came out for this pilot human banner project. This project only works because of every single person who showed up.

Huge thanks to:

🧡 Educators Resist (Jen C)
🧡 SPARC Student Coalition
🧡 Third Act Sacramento
🧡 Qu**rs Fight Back
🧡 MC Sir Wade
🧡 Thad, for his drone work
🧡 Beverly, for her photography

And to our truly incredible volunteers: the folks who showed up to planning meetings to figure out how to pull this off, the folks who ran supplies and kept everything moving, and our line captains who coordinated where everyone needed to go. The list goes on and on, and hopefully we’ll be able to say thank you personally to each one. But in the meantime — thank you for being a part of this.

This was a true collaborative effort, and we couldn’t think of a better way to spend the Fourth of July than resisting joyfully, in community, doing something epic!

No kings. Not in 1776. Not now. Not ever. 👑🚫🇺🇸

Project 2025 is destroying our institutions & while we are fighting back in many ways, but we are fighting back with JOY for this 250 anniversary of the American experiment!

This July 4th, do something epic — join our first ever human banner pilot project, wave at the drones, and help us celebrate 250 years of freedom.

We’ll also have two poignant community art installations reflecting on what’s happening in ICE detention centers.

Project 2025 will not defeat us. There is joy in this resistance. Come be part of it

We will also have our favorite MC Sir Wade who MC'd the Coalition's mini stage at No Kings! 🫶🏼
