Two major marathons in two weeks, 2:56 in Berlin, 2:58 in Chicago, four major marathons done, all sub 3 for Lisa Roberts!

We asked Lisa about her experience: “My honest take on this double:
Cascading circumstances ended up with me registered for Berlin & Chicago marathons, two weeks apart.
My plan was to keep moving as much as possible after Berlin so my legs wouldn’t go stale, but I promptly got sick and tweaked my quad when I got home, so I decided no running until the day before Chicago. Even up to the night before I wasn’t sure my quad would cooperate.
It took a fair bit of trust in my training & patience to pull this off, but I’m glad I did. Luckily everything came around just in time to have a good day at Chicago!”

Massive congrats, Lisa!! You are incredible!

🇧🇷⭐️ Feature Friday ⭐️🇧🇷

Renato has been with Fillnow Coaching for almost 5 years. 7 x 70.3 IM races and 4 x marathon/half marathons later, he says he plans to keep training and racing until AGI is achieved and AI agents become self-aware and take over the planet 🤖

As the CITO of a large bank, we asked how he balances family, training, and his demanding job. His formula is simple - no TV ever unless watching a movie/series with the family or on the trainer/treadmill. And, since his family loves to sleep in on weekends, he can meet up with them for brunch after all his training is done 🍳

Favorite part of racing? The swim! Since playing waterpolo growing up, sighting in open water is no big deal. Finish line feels and getting hardware at the end are also a perks 😉

Proudest moment and/or favorite memory? “I absolutely love Fillnow 800s (aka ‘Killmenow’ 800s). All jokes aside, I love meeting others during race weekends (with my travel schedule, it is difficult to train with everyone else) and high fiving the family and the Fillnow folks as I am crossing the finish line. The first 70.3 was memorable but all the races are fun and I usually have great new memories with each new race.” 🤗

His Why? “Triathlon is a great way to stay healthy and to be more productive (and calmer) at work and at home. Plus, I cannot sit still - I have to do something challenging at work and in life.” This is why we call him the Energizer Bunny 🥁

Keep being your amazing self, Renato! We love being on this journey with you! 🏊🚴🏃

⛰️ Blue Ridge Relay 2026 ⛰️

Some say it’s their favorite weekend of the year and this one may have topped them all. 12 women. 12 men. True mixed teams of all ages and experience — but really just 24 people who showed up ready to run their hearts out and have a great time. Lots of miles, laughs, questionable sleep, and even better memories.

Turns out the best relay strategy might simply be surrounding yourself with good people 💙 Blue Ridge Relay

Buster Britton’s grand master champion DeShon Davis’s advice for open water:

Sight every 4-6 strokes to remain on course and avoid “extra” swimming. 😎

We love it! What’s your preferred sighting method? 🐊

Feature Friday Bukky Olatubosun🌟
1. What motivates you to run before 4am most days of the week?
I wouldn’t call it motivation, rather two practical principles: running is non-negotiable, and I have to leave for work by 5:30am. Since I dislike running after work even more than running early, I am stuck running between 3:00am and 4:00am.

2. What is your favorite and least favorite type of run workout? I absolutely hate Fartleks, but I love long runs.

3. As a surgeon, you have an extremely demanding job. Does running help with stress relief?
Running is my biggest stress reliever. The majority of my time is spent operating on patients admitted through the ER, which makes my days and nights very unpredictable. Additionally, I am very restless at baseline and find it difficult to relax. Running zaps my excess energy and helps quiet my inner demons (they also need a rest day, I assume).

4. What is your dream vacation?
The Seychelles—the water there is insane.

5. Mountains or beaches?
Beaches. The sound of the water is the only thing that can rival, or perhaps even surpass, what running does for my brain. It is so magnificent that it often brings me to tears.

6. What would you say is the accomplishment you are most proud of?
My career. This dream started when I was 10 years old in Nigeria, and it took 25 years and moving across the ocean to accomplish it.

Bukky, you are a joy to have on the team. Thanks for inspiring us all! 💫

Age is just a number! These ladies are redefining what’s possible. At almost 57, Mandy Grimes crushed her PR from 2017 in 5:27 and claimed her 5th 70.3 world champs slot! At almost 66, Marianne K. Morrill hit her highest ever IM 70.3 podium and claimed her very first world championship slot! We can’t wait to watch these ladies compete at the World Championships in 🇺🇸 next year. 🏊‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️🤸🏼‍♂️
