Awesome afternoon trip with Chris and his son Brantley, who celebrated his 12th birthday by hauling in 4 rainbow and 2 kings on Folsom, all in about 4.5 hours. Every fish but 1 caught on the “green splatter” (my name for it not theirs) Sling Blade with a pearl hoochie and ‘chovy filet at 40’. I don’t know why but that set up has been money. Storms stayed away but gave us a great backdrop towards sunset!

I’ve known the Kuhneys via KNCI when I was there. They are always front row, pit, for Country in the Park- first to show, last to leave, and just wonderful people and passionate fans of country music. Not only that, they’re always thoughtful; they made this collage and gave it to me last year as a retirement gift. I keep it in my garage. Taking them fishing last week, they gave me this customized license plate I’m gonna put somewhere on my boat. People like this, family like this, are my favorite part of what I get to do now.

Have I mentioned that for groups of 4 or more, I have access to a super comfortable pontoon boat? It’s like fishing from a living room! My buddy Chuck Holman owns it and operates it while I do all the fishing stuff at the back of the boat. It is a fishing machine and perfect for larger groups

Weird day! Nothing but a shaker first thing until about 10:30 and then bam we hit these 2 trout and 1 more and lost 2 others, all in the space of about 20 minutes and in an area of about 100 yards. Flashers at 30’ and 40 and a toplined orange Apex. Just goes to show…never give up until it’s time to go in!
