After almost 2 weeks “off” (shout out to NYC …one of the great cities on earth … thanks for the pizza and ALL the lox n bagels) I got back on the river this morning and we went 1 for 3. I will be brutally honest: I have become so accustomed to Folsom lake kings that I am having to shake the cobwebs out of my head and remember what beasts ocean-run king salmon are- and I grew up catching them in the PNW! Hey, it’s been a minute. But seriously…and this is no knock on landlocked king salmon because they can be and are challenging in their own right and I absolutely love chasing them but …the difference is like busting broncs vs riding bulls. They’re both still wild but one is just bigger and stronger - raw f’ing strength. These fish are so brutally full of fight that trying to bring them to heel in 20 feet of water moving 3+ miles per hour is a CHALLENGE. Are you up for it? I sure the hell am. I have open weekdays the last week of October and, right now, most all of November. Do you want to know what it feels like to hook into not just lightning but thunder too? Book. Let’s get AFTER ‘em. Went out of Verona. Wasn’t hot but we saw 5 caught, including one for ourselves (15 lbs). Patience and perseverance right now. Silvertron spinner got the job done
