BardicBrews.net Forgotten stories in fermented beverages. We seem to be mostly interested meads (as opposed to beers, ales, wines, etc.) Selling homebrew is illegal.

BardicBrews.net is a place to explore some of the lost mysteries, techniques, and magic of ancient brewing, and the lore and stories of our ancestors. these days, so the content of the site reflects this. In addition to the content of this site, we also do periodic mead workshops in the local community. We are based in Maine but are willing to travel to do mead workshops. Contact us for more detai

ls (see contact info at the bottom of this page). At this time, BardicBrews.net is NOT a commercial brewery, we are hobbyist homebrewers. We do, however, love to share our craft. Your best bet to try our brews would be to stop by one of our fireside gatherings some night…. bring your drinking horn if you have one, as well as some of your own brews to share.

In which we describe the new look and de-hackification of BardicBrews.net, and tell you about the extended break from my meadmaking practice (and therefore of site updates moving forward). It's been fun! Thanks for the support!

My longtime readers will note that BardicBrews.net has a new look to it. There is a shiny new WordPress install with a new theme. And the more astute among you will notice the site works again, and there aren’t any unwanted vi**ra ads popping up for you to be revulsed by! :-)

I didn't make much mead in 2015, but what I did make are among the best I've ever made. Happy to have them bottled.

I had my first bottling session in a while today. That's kind of what happens when your production rates slow down as they have the past couple of years. Only 24 bottles, but boy are they purty.

Spruce Mead has always been one of the favorite brews I do, in that while it's not my personal favorite, I've had more people tell me my spruce mead is the best mead they've ever had than any other brew I've done. It's been 2 years, so long overdue for a batch. Should be ready to bottle around Yule, which is perfect timing.

I finally racked these meads tonight. They are both delicious, and sweet, coming in at about 14.5% ABV with 3% remaining alcohol potential. The Raspberry Harvest has more overt fruit flavor, probably because raspberries have a more intense flavor than blackberries. The Blackberry Harvest is smoother at the moment. The color of the Raspberry is more vibrant as well, which isn’t a huge surprise. I can’t wait to see how they age!
