As we look ahead to Harmony Over Discord, we’re highlighting another amazing talent joining us for the Campbell Stoner Weekend: Thomas Wendt, a Pittsburgh jazz drummer, educator, bandleader, and historian with more than three decades of professional experience.
Thomas grew up in the Sewickley Presbyterian Church and began playing professionally as a teenager. Since then, he has performed and recorded with many of Pittsburgh’s leading jazz musicians and with nationally recognized artists including Donald Byrd, James Moody, Clark Terry, Benny Golson, Paquito D’Rivera, and Hubert Laws. His work has also appeared on numerous recordings, including an Emmy Award-winning PBS soundtrack, and he is a regular contributor to WZUM’s MCG Jazz Spotlight.
For Harmony Over Discord, Thomas will be joined by Scott Boni on alto saxophone, Theron Brown on piano, and Paul Thompson on bass for a performance following Rev. Dr. Jonathan Lee Walton’s keynote address on Saturday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Free and open to the public. Join us for an evening of thought-provoking conversation and outstanding live jazz at Sewickley Presbyterian Church.
