I want to start this post with a huge THANK YOU.
We were so privileged to have served Panora and Lake Panorama, and we will miss you all more than words can say.
Our hearts are breaking today as we walk away from something so special. For some of us, The Port was a first job. For others, it was a place of healing during hard times, or simply a way to connect, be social, and meet new people. For all of us, it was never just a job. A broken heart only means you had something wonderful — and that’s what this place has been.
When I started here over 10 years ago, I thought it would just be temporary — a way to help pay rent for my very first apartment. I never imagined that by almost 30 I’d still be here, with the privilege of serving as General Manager. I never imagined this would be where I’d meet and marry my husband, make lifelong friends who became family, and learn so much about the world. And that’s just my story — countless others have their own memories tied to The Port. For so many, it’s been a second home, which makes this goodbye so difficult.
I am incredibly proud of The Port staff and everything they’ve accomplished. You are some of the most dedicated, loyal, and kind people I’ve ever known. You pulled together when times were tough and gave your best every single day. To our amazing managers — Anna Fives, Chef Monk, Amanda Rambo, and Andrea Reynolds — I could never have done this without you. Thank you.
And finally, a special thank you to the Menadue family for everything you’ve done to keep The Port alive and thriving. This is a place where couples will celebrate anniversaries decades from now, where people will remember their graduation parties, weddings, and even the countless board meetings! Your kindness and commitment to Panora and Lake Panorama shines through this place.
It has been an honor to be a part of this legacy. From myself and on behalf of the staff — thank you. We wish you all the very best, and we hope to see The Port’s spirit carried forward in the beautiful plans for it's future.
With so much gratitude,
Kayla Valentine
Ps. We would LOVE to see all of your photos and hear about all of your favorite Port memories in the comments!
