Class of 1980 Palatka High School

Most of you know that the PHS Class of 1980 was able to provide (2) scholarships in the amount of $500.00 to 2026 PJSHS grads. This was funded by donations from our classmates & a bit of money left over from the reunion. It gave us immense pleasure to help these young folks further their education. This first year was definitely a learning experience for the committee, but our plan is to continue this outreach as a class into the future & hopefully grow the number of recipients. The class of 2027 will be graduating in the blink of an eye. This means we will need to start the donations coming in as quickly as we can. Donations will be accepted at our Monthly Meet Ups & we’re providing 2 forms of electronic payment in this post. The committee would LOVE input from our classmates on our selection process. Just reminding everyone that our next Monthly Meet Up is this coming Monday 6/8/26 at Corky Bells in East Palatka at 5:30pm. We meet in the room behind the bar. Please spread the word. This is always a great time.

On Tues 5/19/26 the Palatka High School Class of 1980 had the privilege of awarding (2) $500.00 scholarships to graduates of the PJSH Class of 2026. It gives us a sense of pride to help graduates of our alma mater further their education. This idea came from classmate Johnnie O. Givens Sr. The funds were donated by classmates. We formed a scholarship committee of 5, monitored the donations, agonized over applications (they all had merit) and made the difficult decision to award scholarships to Charnelle Cue & Caren Drew. The goal is to grow this stewardship in support of students in our community. Cash Donations can be given at any class event, or we do have Venmo and Cash App available. As we start planning for graduation next year, please consider giving to this worthy cause throughout the year. We are also looking for a few new committee members if you'd be interested.
