Mike's Beer Blog Plus It is a well know fact that I like to experience craft beers and taprooms / breweries. I will post my findings and encourage your comments.

Every beer lover has their favorite style of beer. I heard the term 'beer snob' which was defined as someone who drinks high quality beer. My view of high quality is the craft beer world. Craft beers have taken off by storm. Things I love to try when out and about are local breweries / beers, local coffee shops and local family restaurants. I think the success of these endeavors is in the passion

for the purpose. I have to say my beer tastes have changed over time. I also think most beer lovers gravitate to a 'home base' whether it be their favorite beer or favorite place to get their beer. My favorite home base now is MaxTaps HR.

If you are in or near Marathon TX stop by here. The BBQ is great and the beers are better. Ya'll know I am an IPA guy, but 6 beers on tap and had a GENEROUS sample of all 6. The BEST porter I have had ever is their Pecan Porter, next was the Fest. The porter pairs so well with beef. The Kolsch and Hef also very good. The line up I enjoyed truly. It even makes it better with family! Nice job Brick Vault! I will be back...

Well it's been a while but Courtney brought me here. Got a 4 taster with staff picks beyond the Octoberfest. Check the list, the Octoberfest is spot on and smooth! The 2 pilsners and a hazy framed it. So the list ranking is 1st #2, 2nd is #4, 3rd #3, 4th is #1. Update should follow on the pizza...

Stopped in since I had not been here yet. Nice seat at the bar with a flight. Great staff/owner! Left to right is Skinner a Baltic Porter, first trying this style and it's great! Fire on the Horizon Juicy Pale IPA is good tasting. Little Hoppy Mule a Black IPA is one of the best and a style I don't see much. The Goat is an American Brown that slides across the tongue leaving a fantastic flavor. Then the season of FestBier, is a beer with the right amount of OktoberFest flavors. The pick to this point is the American Brown, if you are in Castle Rock, stop by, parking is right off the patio. Runner up is LHM Black IPA.

Spent a great evening last night at the 40th GABF downtown. I got to have a super favorite the Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout from Belching Beaver that I found a couple years ago. The most interesting was the Strawberry Banana Bubblegum Smoothie from Bearded Brewer Artisan ales, was sweet and thick. I tried several IPAs, 4 that had to be poured out. Disappointed in the IPA styles I tried. I had several cream ales and that was the best style that I enjoyed. I finally got to taste the Sam Adams Utopias and aged ale. It was a mob to get a taster due to is rareness at the GABF. A big shout out to MaxTaps in Highlands Ranch, I picked up a couple BOGOF coupons and I am posting from their new and fantastic patio today enjoying a WeldWerks IPA. Prost to All!
