The Mic Under St. Marks

The Mic Under St. Marks Every Tuesday from 9pm - 2am. The OPEN MIC DOWNSTAIRS is a space where the focus is the stage. It's great--you should come.

Seven minute time slots, full theater sound and lighting, great bar, back garden, house band, and a welcoming, supportive community on a beautiful stage. Performers are welcome to workshop, experiment, take a risk; to come onstage with nothing prepared, with everything prepared, to fail, to succeed, to succeed better, to fail better. All with the support of a crowd that can whoop, stomp, and holle

r for seven minutes straight and then be stricken silent in wonder for another seven. There's a full soundboard and lighting rig on a black backdrop and an expert in the booth to help you with anything you need. There's a green room where you can prepare, and a back garden where you can talk and smoke with the community. There's a house band to play whatever you need, whenever you need it. There's a friendly doorman who gives you raffle tickets to win a free drink at the bar. Oh, and there's a bar, with four dollar Budweiser tall boys, wine, sake, and sometimes Pop Tarts. Open to musicians, comedians, storytellers, artists, poets, actors, writers, performance artists, magicians, exhibitionists, people who just want to talk, and anybody who wants to listen, seven minutes at a time.

Looking for an open mic to showcase your music? Come to The Mic Under St. Marks! Every Tuesday at 9, right in the heart of the East Village, for over 15 years (with a little quarantine break in the middle) this open mic has given musicians and artists a place to take a risk, experiment, and be witnessed. With 7 minute slots to do anything you want, a backyard, a house band, beer and wine bar, 88key keyboard, full theater sound and lighting, and a wonderful gorgeous blackbox stage, this is the place to come week after week. We’re at 94 St. Marks Place, next to the Physical Graffiti building. Hopefully I’ll see you there!
