WHAT WILL PEOPLE BE SURPRISED BY WHEN THEY SEE 'SUMMER&SMOKE'?: I think they will be surprised by how timeless the play is. It doesn't feel just like '1916'. It feels like us, today. We all can relate to finding a person that completely draws us in and changes the makeup of who we are.

CURRENT NEIGHBORHOOD: Brooklyn Heights

HOW DOES THE PLAY, BEYOND THE REHEARSAL ROOM, RESONATE WITH YOU?: Personally, I find it impossible to be in my twenties, read this play, and not feel like I can relate. Williams is writing about people in very particular times in their lives, and whether we’ve been there, are there, or will be there some day, we all know on an emotional, physical, even primal level, what that time feels like.

NAME: Jerry Lee
IN 'S&S': Reverend Winemiller/Dr. Buchanan
HOMETOWN: Roseville, CA
CURRENT NEIGHBORHOOD: Harlem

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE JOYS AND CHALLENGES OF WORKING ON WILLIAMS NOW?: You'll find in all stage directions of any Williams play that he was so delightfully eager to share his perspective (I imagine he was a pain to have in the actual rehearsal room). In doing so, Williams left his voice attached to every play he wrote. Each play feels very personal and somehow blessed. I've never felt so much presence from a blocking note. It's nice.

alright, time for day TWO!

NAME: Sarah Naughton
IN 'S&S': Mrs. Winemiller/Mrs. Bassett
HOMETOWN: Cazenovia, NY
CURRENT NEIGHBORHOOD: Astoria

HOW DOES THE PLAY, BEYOND THE REHEARSAL ROOM, RESONATE WITH YOU?: I identify with Alma a lot, I felt like her a bit growing up I think. John points out the 'fancy' way Alma talks, the way she says things like 'pyrotechnical display' instead of 'fireworks', and it reminds me of when I was younger, I would be really careful to use the simplest words possible, because I used to get made fun of for more creative word choices. Also Alma is an idealist. I identify with that a lot as well.

WHAT WILL PEOPLE BE SURPRISED BY WHEN THEY SEE 'S&S'?: I think people will be surprised that the play is about finding love in your twenties. These are not characters on the brink of death. These are characters at basically the beginning of their adult lives.
